Tinted Visor Questions

I was looking to get a tinted visor for my RF1000 Shoei helmet. I'm thinking of either the Gold mirror tint one or the Gold tinted one. I'm unsure of how dark the actual tints are on the mirror ones.

Anyone who has one please chime in.

Also, could anyone suggest a good website or location to purchase this?

thanks!

A friend of mine has the mirror tinted visor on his Shoei and when I tried it on it looked just like a regular dark smoke tinted visor. Hope that helps!

Yeah, and it scuffs more easily so I've heard.

Yeah, since the mirror is just an exterior coating. Scratches also stand out more. Drives me f'n nuts, one of the reasons why I stopped using them.

Drove me nuts and I dont by the mirror anymore. I like the dark tins, use them all the time, but keep a clear visor one of my cases for when the sun goes down, just swap and go. Wish my Arai was as easy to swap as my Shoei.

how do you guys get so many scratches on your visors?

bugs!! & using them all day / all night

cleaning with soap/water at coffee shops....

pebbles from trucks.

I ride daily in daylight and night time conditions. Use a clear visor with sunglasses. It's far more convenient than carrying another visor.

Are there such things as adaptive visors? You know like the ones in glasses. It'll turn dark when it detects sunlight and go back to clear when it doesn't.

Doubtful. It wouldn't justify the cost and a lot of people get visors for their look.

I don't get them very often but when I do it drives me nuts. Last scratch was from getting groceries.. a lady brushed by me and a latch on her purse scratched my tinted shield.

that would piss me off to no end. Had some idiot do that to a $150 pair of ski goggles up at Tremblant weeks after I bought them. I didn't realize he'd actually scratched the lens until I put them back on like an hour later.

Ya. Bell makes it. It works great.

Yup. Not QUITE as dark as a dark smoke visor. I MAY get a dark smoke visor for summer (read; long days) use only and use the transition visor for spring / fall.

For sure. It was a similar situation, I noticed the scratch in the parking lot.

I agree, but I wear glasses and don't buy prescription sunglasses, well have not in a while. I have the space anyways, my bikes a pack mule.
