Things not to do when buying/selling a bike

Buyers: Don't hop on and take it for a ride without asking unless you want me getting the police chasing you immediately. Actually, you should probably presume I'm not going to let you ride it at all unless you brought a car or other bike and the keys are in my hand while you have mine. Just because I let you start it to make sure it runs ok doesn't mean you just go for a ride on my insurance policy.

Wow, that's a bold move. I would always have the bike facing into the back of a garage or a building or something like that. Mine was lucky enough to be on a deck 3 feet off the ground when I was showing it. That way they have to back it up and turn it around before they go anywhere. It gives you some time to say, "What the F do you think you're doing?"

test ride with full asking price in hand. Thats the easy way to do it.
