The "Are you thinking of a new bike for 2024?" discussion thread.

he cannot disclose, it will be in the middle of the night, with military escort incase someone decides they really want it.
You laugh, but I’d wager if someone comes into the dealership and offers a good amount more than PP…dealership could get creative.

But it won’t happen. It’s under armed guard.

It's still available as per their website.

So when do you bring it home?

It has to go in to get a few outstanding recalls completed at Yamaha before we get to that point. That'll probably be a few weeks minimum.

I'd like to ride it home but that will be very weather dependent of course. Otherwise they'll trailer it out when their schedule allows.

Is it brand new or can you skip the break in service?

I just looked at the specs, she’s a big girl!

$20/lb, same price as a good striploin.

At 950# I think it is hands down the heaviest cruiser/touring bike out there, which was one of the things that people **** on when this bike was introduced, despite the fact that anyone who has actually ridden one says that they actually handle amazingly well and the weight doesn't even feel like it's there anymore once you're moving. It's actually the longest touring bike, and widest I believe as well. She's a chonker, but that's OK with me - I sat on it at the dealer and lifted it up off the kickstand etc, and it actually felt easier than my Vulcan. I think it carries it's weight much lower. Of course once that 25L fuel tank is full that might feel different, but IIRC I think it was still half full when I looked at it. It absolutely felt easier to get off the stand than my Vulcan either way.

In reality my Vulcan is pushing 900#, so meh. A Goldwing is "only" 850#, but given half of them out there have 3/4 of the Kuryakyn farkle accessories catalog strapped, bolted, stuck, and screwed to them, I suspect most are also pushing 950-1000# lol.

These apparently have very low cornering clearance. Get some magnesium setup on your floor boards. Weeeee sparks!

It actually has about a half inch more than my Vulcan apparently.

I've actually found that the Vulcan starts hitting the exhaust around the same time as the floorboards however - the pipes on the Star Venture look to be higher, so hopefully they don't do the same. I like to get my lean on often and scraping the floorboard feelers is a lot less puckering than feeling your exhaust touching down and then having to ride that fine line. I've never done it as I got pretty good at riding that line, but of course eventually it would turn into a lowside.

My old VTX would touch down on the boards and then I could feel them folding up if I pushed harder, but it rarely touched the pipes. It felt much more safe to me. Hoping the new ride will be the same.

Taken from another thread for those who missed it there, this is a crop from one of the photos of me on the dragon a few years back.

This is usually the point where my sport touring riding buddies tell me in an exasperated voice that I should have bought an FJR or a beemer or something, but yeah, I like the couch on wheels with a big old stupid v-twin in it too much.

Awesome, the fugliest of fugs.

No, I'm not involved in any of this ... yet. LOL

Do it. Do it. Do it.

Hey, who doesn't like paying 9.99% interest on financing right now?

That bit hurt a little. I'll be aiming to pay it off sooner vs later. 😬
