TD MM gives a 2007-08 ZZR600 a "high performance" rating? Want $9000/year...

Re: TD MM gives a 2007-08 ZZR600 a "high performance" rating? Want $9000/year...

if the zzr was a naked bike it would not be classed high performance. plastics doubles horsepower.

My naked bike (insured with TD MM) being classed as a high performance bike, thereby being hit with a surcharge seems to indicate otherwise.

I actually just called TD MM (I'm with them now on my 250 for $500/year) to inquire about the new CBR650F. Since they didn't have it in the system they quoted me the Ninja 650R at 1900/year. For reference, a CBR600RRA was $1700/year. Apparently this is due to the number of claims put in by 650R riders last year, as they said the accident benefits portion was $1200 of the $1900, vs around $500-600 of the total on other bikes. Still BS if you ask me.

For reference as well, I asked Dalton Timmis the same thing, and they came back with around $1100/year for the Ninja 650R. Big difference.

How old are you? I dream of the day those are my rates.

Age of 30 is the magic number for the lowest bike insurance rates. As soon as I turned 30, the rate on my FZR600 went from $1000 and change to $550ish. If you have 5 years of G, even if you're like 23, you should come close to SF's best rates (iirc).

31 and had my car license since 16, and going into my 3rd season of riding (got M2 April 2012 and full M Oct 2013). First year was $1200 on the 250 for comparison.

Im 25 with a spotless record. had my M since I was 17 and insurance since. Ive never been quoted less that 1700 a year on any bike at any company. Check out my thread about SF playing games with me. No one will ever be able to explain to you what and why your being quoted what your being quoted. They give you a number, You pay it or you dont and thats all there is too it really.... with your bike there should be a tonne of options out there though, Its not an SS so you should be able to go with a bunch of different brokers, just call broker after broker. I had a nissan skyline. COULD NOT GET INSURANCE FOR THE LIFE OF ME. even when I called desjardins (the company it was insured with right up untill I bought it and was told it would be reinsurable with) and they told me no. Sold the car to my brother, He went to desjardins and spoke to another person there, next day hes driving my skyline no problems. every once and while you hear some one saying they got a killer rate its just luck of the draw on who you talk to at what company that day.... Make some calls.
