Dont think this was a result of target fixation. Just pure inexperience. Riding above his limits and didn't know how to negotiate the turn properly.

Looks like just barely. He seemed to be a few feet from the tree when he stopped sliding. And the guy following is incredibly lucky, holy.

Looks like decreasing radius curve, and guy was probably already leaning as far as he knew how.

looks like he was going faster than he knew how to turn. you can see his brake light as he panics and tries to slow down instead of leaning harder into the corner.

kinda feel sorry for him but if he learned a valuable lessen right there it'll pay for the damage in the long run, reality check
