I am thinking of trading in my 07 1250 suzuki bandit for a 2011 m109r,seeing that the wifey doesn't like riding the bandit two up says its too uncomfortable.Just wondering would the m109r be a good option,I like the twisties and would this bike navigate the corners well enough to keep me interested Also would you guys look at me weird showing up for a group ride on one.Not worried about power cause by the reviews seems to have that covered.If anyone owns one or knows anything about it would appreciate any input

Have a friend that had one, drove the crap out of it and he could keep up with anyone. Just watch used ones as second gear seems to be weak and it is expensive to get fixed. I think it's just the big twin torque, just give it a good looking over.

I was riding behind a guy at the brampton demo day back in July who was on a m109 and he was scraping the crap out of it just by making normal turns on city streets. I'd be afraid of taking it into serious twisties.
 
Don't do it if you like corners. The engine will suck you in to approaching corners faster than the bike allows and will have your butt sucking the foam out of the seat when you run out of cornering clearance.
 
I've also heard corner clearance issues with the bike from a coworker who rode one... but I think the comment about scraping even in city driving is a little much. What city are you from? All my city corners have stop signs, red lights, or crack heads...
 
I've ridden one and scraped during normal city turns. Lots of torque. For Boulevard Cruising it's a great bike (hence the name) but I'd look elsewhere if you're even modestly interested in the twisties.
 
Hosted a ride with a group of sport riders, one rider, who had that "type" of bike, a big, heavy power cruiser came along, and I understood later, that previously, he owned an R6 and wouldnt have any problems keeping up with us.

He tried hard to keep up, and ending up crashing it, badly.

I think you will be very disappointed if you think you will be enjoying any kind of sport riding with that bike.
 
Thanks guys I understand that the general consensus is not much good for any kind of cornering or sport riding which I do enjoy,so to keep the wife happy for two up and myself for some kind of sport riding ability what bike would fit this.That is why I ended up buying the bandit,upright seating position supposed to be good two up (sport Tourer).If I had of known would have gone pure sport she won't ride anyway.
 
Bandit is pretty good for 2 up, I am not sure if a Honda ST would be better. Seems like you need a Wing if you are going to make her happy.

I live near dovercourt village too but I still don't have to make stops at corners when my light is green, crackheads be damned.

Buddy on the m109 was turning on 10 and sandalwood and had little cornering clearance from what I saw. Pretty fun and scary watching the sparks fly when you're behind that beast.
 
2 years ago I rode with someone that had a M109 after they had owned sportbikes, and like others have said, the bike is limited to cornering clearance and once you get up into high speeds, above legal speeds, wind lifted his feet up so he had to hook his right foot under the brake pedal and I forget what he did with his left foot. I imagine the foot/wind issue is normal for cruiser position bikes.

It definitely had balls of torque once he changed the exhaust, added a Power Commander, did the airbox mod.... and did whatever mod that helped the gear changer (memory fails me, I think it was a spring issue or something).

Anyways, he ended up getting divorced and subsequently went back to a sportbike. She never rode on the back of it anyways.

I could cruise at 240kph (private road of course) on the VN2000 with no issue like this. I had a full face helmet and deflector wind screen of course. I also had floorboards which may make all the difference. I didn't have to make ANY mods to the V2K to make it go like a raped ape. If I had kept the bike I would have installed an adjustable air ride shock to boost the bike up for corners.
 
have decided for now to keep the bandit and look for a used cruiser in the spring to ride when she wants.Trying to convince her to get her m1, if she did I could get what I really want a ZX-14R

Ok... someone just needs to come out and hit you with reality...
The Bandit is not the problem. The wife is. Changing bikes won't change the problem. Changing wives will. Got it?
So the next time you go to the dealership, forget the Bandit, leave it alone. Bring the wife, walk up to the salesman, and tell him you want a newer model that likes to go fast. Then introduce him to your wife and ask him what kind of trade in value you can get.

Thank God my girlfriend rides her own.

+^ 2 wheels hold their shape (curves) over time better than the 2 legs variety generally.:p
