Sure is nice out...get out there.

Caught this thread to late. Will try again tomorrow.

Just got in - lovely 300k or so on the backroads.

full moon - 22 degrees what ARE you waiting for....:D

Almost went out tonight, but I've been on too little sleep for too many days. Don't feel like tempting fate.

Sure is nice riding weather though! Hoo boy!

Micro Four Thirds ( mirrorless ).

So it can be tiny or ginormous ( I used both lenses tonight ).

The 1.4 Prime for the landscape and sunset shots.

The 100-300 ( 600 mm equivalent ) for the long shots and macro from a distance ( lilies )

same shot with the long lens

even a wild turkey playing peek-a-boo..at 100 metres

24 degrees and glorious....great time for a nightride as well - 3/4 moon.

and macro shots at 5 meters.

14 mm Prime pancake lens

these were all shot with that lens - if you zoom in you'll see the detail.

The Gx1 with 100-300 lens has a longer reach than the full sized Canon on the left.

I carry both lenses, camera and lens in one shirt pocket - the other lens in the other shirt pocket. Not something you can do with a DLSR. 5 sec to switch lenses.
That lens on the left on the Canon is $6,000 - on the right the Lumix is $599 and will reach longer and do most of what the Canon will do ( Canon gathers more light ).

The guy with the micro four thirds is a pro and was astonished...

The is a cool package a couple of my friends have score with the wide angle 1.4 prime lens and the stock 14-45 zoom and the Gx1 body for $550 or so.

NP - I was using TZ point and shoot compacts on the mcycle but got tired of missing shots due to slow auto-focus etc.

Needed something I could shirt pocket and easy to use but then could handle a big lens for birding.

As a result of the size the camera is almost always with me.

I could not stabilize the camera so that moon was a handheld...just on the edge of the ability of the camera to compensate.
I'm in the market for a small tripod - I would have used it tonight.

A pocket Lumix is capable with a longer reach than a Canon DSLR with a telezoom lense?? Wow... I'm speachless...
Great job on the capture!

Yeah - do recall that's still a big lens - it weights more than the camera by about twice but the nature of the MFT optics means a 300 mm MFT lens has the same reach as a 600 mm full frame.

It's a handfull

and that's closed.

But here is the new monster....

Panasonic takes the long view with the Lumix FZ70 | TechHive

That's a lot of kit for $400

Considering that's less than a lesser reach lens on a MFT and weighs about the same it's an interesting spin on a two camera system.

and if you want more....

An optional 1.7x tele conversion lens, for example, will boost magnification to 2040mm.
