Stock vs. Brand Name vs. Custom Exhaust?

Here's a couple of videos with the Danmoto. I have to ask tho, why would you want to spend the coin on upgrades, or in this case downgrades on a 650R?No disrespect to the bike, but it's a sport tourer isn't it? If you want a nicer sounding bike and more ponies why don't you move up the obvious ZX-6? It'll scare you plenty without any upgrades!

The twin sounds like ***** with and without the slip-on. It's a waste of money and you will lose on resale value.

Here's what you want:

Cleans up the ZX-6 nicely, and the sound can't be picked up by any camera. It's a much nicer sound than any other exhaust on the market IMHO. Deep, deep bass. You will "need" the stage 2 silencer as it'll rattle your brains loose and you'll draw heat If you go this route, see other thread and get a proper dyno-tune.

Spend your money wisely!

Don't you agree the best mods are the ones that hide your license plate from cops and create more storage space for girls panties?

Kinda like modding out a Buick Regal isn't it? Modding a sport-tour = downgrade, loss of resale, waste of money. He'll get more money on a trade-in for a ZX-6 leaving his 650R stock. And a mechanic will hear the mods you're speaking of...bikes are inspected by a mechanic on trade-in. Leave it stock is my opinion. You have yours.

Upgrading an SS doesn't really affect the resale if you have OEM parts on hand to give to the purchaser. But the more mods you see on an SS, the more suspicion you "should" have of abuse.

As I wrote, the bikes are too good out of the box. If the OP wants more noise and speed then he should spend his money wisely and upgrade to the ZX which will give him plenty of that.

Id say YOU need to chane your thought process, not everyone rides a supersport or even wants to, why should someone not mod their bike just because theres a higher HP model to upgrade to? This would mean no one would mod anything other than a one-thow.De-snorkling the bike will do nothing to resale value as it's a completely invisible mod, next thing youll be telling me installing smog block off plates, or changing my plugs is lowering my resale value...first you try and convine people power commders/bazzaz units are useless, then you think you have this great new business model for riders choice, and now this... winning

I do.

But YOU are not the owner of the bike in question.

Perhaps the current bike offers a much better insurance rate for this individual, or perhaps the sport touring configuration is an upgrade in this case

Someone could easily do the same with your selection of a GSXR1000, The ZX10, BMW or Aprillia would have been a better choice as they are much better bikes out of the showroom than your old technology GSXR.

I modded my slow sport tourer 250....I did get gains from doing slip on, and dynojet kit etc...but more importantly I did it because I wanted too, and loved the sound while I rode it...also not everyone trades in, I actually sold privately in under 4 hours and made more on the bike then I ever paid for it.....so doing mods for me was no loss.

My current SS already had slip on and power commander etc.

I really hope you arn't modding that lame out dated GSXR 1000 when you could save your money and put it towards a BMW s1000rr, honestly why would you mod a bike that doesnt come with TC ABS or a quikshifter? modding a gixxer = downgrade, losss of resale, waste of money. Come on, just get the BM it will give you the power you need and the lap times you deserve, you can't be modding second rate machines.

True, the 650R is a great upgrade from my dirt bike/dual sport bikes of the past. For now I'm very happy with the 650R, I'm just playing with a few ideas on possible upgrades/mods. If I do change a few things, it will be stuff I can reverse and if/when I sell, return it to stock.

Yea, modding and upgrading is solely about pride of ownership. Does matter if it's a car, bike, computer case, whatever...

Nothing wrong with that. I plan on moding my bike...wonder what Prince thinks of that??? I love my bike and plan on keeping it til it dies, nothing wrong with moding it an making it yours.

So speaks the aftermarket.

Your old tech GSXR still won't be as good as the other bikes mentioned.

You'd have to spend $10k on electronics hardware to get close.

I get it man. You'd rather GTAM members waste their dollars on "upgrades" via your financial interest in various aftermarket dealers on this forum including Prostar Motosports rather than give their money to Suzuki, or Yamaha, or Kawasaki for a bike that suits their needs out-of-the-box. As I wrote, the aftermarket is being squeezed out. Aprilia, BMW, Ducati, they're all driving the big four into a HP war, and a war to build perfection. You have a 250 HP R1 blowing past everything in WSBK right now. You don't think that's a sign of things to come? The meat the big four used to leave on the bone for people like you (the aftermarket) will no longer be there. I can understand why you'd be ****** of to see your market (and profits) disappearing. Don't hate on me for it!
