Between traffic, humidity, gear and hot sun dehydration can be nasty.....been there don't EVER want to do it again.

Hot times already......all week apparently.

Keep and eye on buddies as well.

However, if a rider you know does get heatstroke, you need to help them fast, no matter what objections they may offer: Their body temperature must be lowered immediately. Begin by getting the rider out of the sun, and ideally into some air-conditioned area. Their clothing should loosened and/or removed to allow more ventilation. Even better would be to get the rider into some cool water, such as a bath, or even a lake or river if such is possible.

Does anyone here use those coolant scarves, and if so do they work well? where can you get them in the GTA?

Hot weather? Bring it on! I'm ready for it.

Week of the Squid!

Thank the powers above for full mesh jackets and CamelBaks

Is it just me? When I ride my bike in 30+ sunny hot weather for at least 3-4 hours I drink as much drinks as if I was playing a game of soccer, I mean like at least 6 bottles of water/soda, all of this without sweating.

It's just you. Except if it's soda...then it's diabetes.

Pegassus doesn't sweat, Pegassus glows.

This could be serious. Not sweating is an indicator but it is probably just getting dried by the wind. Not urinating is a warning sign that shouldn't be ignored. Personally I'd stay away from pop (soda) and stick with water or 'sports' drinks on those hot days.

Last year I went down to the Dragon and did the BRP.
I was in Winchester Virgina and it was 104
This thing saved my life.
Now I never travel without it.
Someday someone will invent the Air Conditioned Helmet.
Maybe a solar panel on top to run it.

I found these cooling scarves at Tilley Endurables and it works well. You soak them in water and the material inside soaks up the water and evaporates over time. They have a store at north of Eglinton on Don Mills. The only problem with them because it dries over a long time they are prone to smelling moldy...still trying to figure out how to avoid that.

I've been there too and it's not pleasant to say the least. I'm not that hardcore that I will ride in heat-waves. I rather chicken out and bask in my A/C cage slipping a Tim Horton's ice cap.

Sorry forgot to mention that I DO pee and a lot during those trips, every 45 minutes probably!
