So I emailed Optima Batteries to ask them why they don't make motorcycle batteries.

If you've ever owned a yellow top, or a red top then you'll know why Optima batteries kick butt for cars! I've always wondered why they never made them for bikes.. check out this lovely response.

My Email:

Hello,

I’m curious as to why Optima doesn’t make motorcycle batteries?

Response:

Hello

Unfortunately, Optima does not make a motorcycle/powersport battery. I do not know the exact reason why.

Thank you,

lol at least they are honest about it.

Odyssey batteries work best but are heavy, expensive and come only in a few sizes.

What did you expect? Seriously.

A reason?

I emailed Bursig to ask them why they make a paddock stand for the VFR1200 but not the VFR800. Always thought it was a weight issue, but after emailing them, they told me they haven't got a hold of a VFR800 to make a plate that will fit but once they do, they'll let me know.

I appreciate the chick's honesty as everyone else as stated, but I love Optima and would put one in my bike in a heartbeat.

Making batteries (or not) for a different market is a strategic business decision, even the managers couldn't tell you exactly why they don't. There probably is no specific reason for NOT doing it as long as there's no compelling business reason to do it.

The VFR is just needs a different plate made up by Bursig. Even then, I bet if you asked about ANY bike they don't support they'd give you the exact same answer anyways. It'sn't like VFR800s are hard to find.
