It's probably a sign that we have less racial inequality when people can rib each other about nationalities or regionalisms the way we do about sports teams. As far as the Chinese comment from the OP, the perpetrator must have been some horking mainland peasant, since no respectable Chinese person would litter on someones motorcycle.

Own it, dude. Some of my best friends are rednecks, and I particularly like their womenfolk.

Anyway, the joke was the equivalent of having George Takei (aka Sulu) or Jackie Chan explain that someone must be white trash because respectable Canadians don't behave that way. It's unexpected and kind of a relief that while you can't discriminate against one another, it is ironic we still discriminate against our own people for the same reasons, and that we have this in common.

You think only white people have rednecks? :)
