Smokers around bike

ya i agree with this and this is something that i always do! lol! i'm a bit of a chicken sometimes so i would just make it very obvious and give the person a dirty look without actually saying anything...

Well it's not a matter of being a chicken.
I'd do that to give the other person the benefit of the doubt. Maybe the person was clueless as to what they were doing. So this just acts as a "warning". If they continue then there would be a more obvious confrontation!

cant tell if you are being serious...:glasses5::read:

I thought he was trying to be funny, and thought it might be funny, but I actually have no idea what it means or is suppossed to mean. Guess that's what I get for being a redneck from the sticks.

Thanks, I do fully understand the differeance in thoughts regarding guns and laws and Forums. Making the transition sometimes is difficult as I am not the "Politically Correct" type of person and as I mentioned earlier it was one of the things I really liked about my vivists to Toronto this year, hearing people say things and seeing that those comments (That were not meant as derogotory or insults) were accepted as meant and people did not twist things. Even gender discussions did not go sideways like they do here in the U.S.

I very much like to hear peoples opinions on subjests like bikes, gender, guns etc. I have already gotten into tangents on other threads and have already refrained from posting about the gun subject unless it is already the topic, as "major" started this shooting portion I just wanted to clarify and express my opinion to his comments concering this particular case.

We all have lines drawn in regards to certain subjects and what we feel is right and wrong in regards to them, but there is always gray area's and that is why some discussions get off target at times.

I value your comments and the posts you make!

That might have a little to do with general awareness too.
People in Toronto are more aware of other cultures and religions etc simply because it's more prevalent here.
In the US, even the politicians don't know the difference and don't care to know the difference. For example, Mitt Romney, saying "Sheikh" instead of "Sikh" during a fundraiser. I bet he is not even sure what the difference is. People learn from that.
Happened on Fox News, they said the guy who shot up the Sikh temple was "Anti Semitic".

People here generally tend to understand those differences. So they realize the difference when something is derogatory or not.
At least that's what my opinion on the matter is...

I had some guy ashing onto my parked car once. Him and his buddies had parked next to me, and one guy was leaning on my car with a smoke in his hand over my hood. I mean, it's a little bit of cigarette ash, I'm sure I've had far worse things fall on my car. But it's the principal of the matter, and lack of respect for someone else's property. I just simply walked up to my car and simply said "Do you mind not ashing on my car??" and buddy seemed pretty embarrassed at getting caught, and was apologetic.

No biggie, you don't have to start WWIII over it. But don't get pissy about it if you're not going to do something about it.

I'm sure his intent was humour. I thought it sorta funny, in a not quite acceptable way. :p China is huge with a wide array of cultural differences amongst the people there. Amongst some, as I understand it, it's appropriate to expectorate outdoors. That can get you a ticket in Toronto.

I don't see the big issue with this whole thing. Guy is lurking too close to your bike and littering it with ashes, tell or ask him to stop. Explain why you don't want him to gets you a bonus score on the "I dealt with this situation like a rational human being" score card.

Fair enough, I just find it interesting that when a race is connected to a positive experience, no one has a problem. The second race is connected to a negative experience it becomes an issue. Either way...its just his experience and I highly doubt he meant anything more than what he stated....know what I mean...

X2..

So ashes again lol... People
Must hate me... Its all good. As long as no cum stains i suppose i shouldn't freak.

One thing I noticed visiting Toronto this summer on my trips was that people are a lot less concerned with being "politically correct" You can say things and not have your words taken out of cotext and people try to make you out to be a hate filled racist. The op was just stating a fact, nothing more and was not trying to sterotype everyone.

on the interweb, many ppl take on a 'holier than thou' attitude. You don't stop ppl during a convo to pick on grammar or stuff like this.

People just get bizarre online.

Personally, my bike sees much more crap than just light dustings of ashes. if the dude was butting out on my bike or flicking the ashes onto it, it's a different story..but really, you're going to get all twisted cuz he's smoking nearby and some wind caught the fallout?

Here you have to very careful of what you say in person as well. People spend more time worrying they might offend someone than just saying what they think or feel. And say the wrong thing you get called on it quick.

I'm not sure if I missed a more detailed explanation somewhere - but does this happen while your bike is parked at work? Or what's the story?

Yup.. At work.. And seems
My bike is the only victim ... Few other bikes parked beside me

So, have you caught anyone purposely ashing on your bike? Like the Chinese dude, was he standing right at your bike, or was he nearby and the ashes happened to fall on your seat?

Maybe try parking in a different spot. If you keep getting ashes just on your bike, I think you can conclude that it's on purpose.

I've seen people downtown Toronto standing on top of strangers' cars so this disrespect doesn't surprise me.

If this was the Florida, and you were carrying, you could shoot him and claim that he came up to you (stand your ground).

It was a joke OutlawsJustice. With a Handle like yours, I would have thought you would have gotten 'it'.
