Sliders/engine guards?

Looking at putting on some crash protection on me Bandit 1250.
I have some options but am unsure of quality and amount of protection from each system.
Here is what I'm looking at for options.

Frame guards GSG or R&G?

I'm leaning toward the Sato Racing engine guards and the GSG frame sliders. Any input as far as quality or functionality and looks would be helpful.

After Gary's testimonial, I decided to take his word and put a set of these on my bike.
LSL frame/case sliders...

I use these on the lil bandit...they are from Renntec out of the UK

I wanted something to use as highway pegs for touring...

You can also check out Holeshot performance for most things bandit...

they call them nerf bars down there....

I have full fairings so the nerf's and crash bars won't work.

I would stay away from the Sato stuff. The way they attach over a large distance to a couple bolts on the cover(s) has a tendency to damage the engine cover in an accident. I had to replace a clutch cover because of an impact to a Sato slider. A slider on an engine mount has a lot more meat behind it rather than the thin material around bolt holes.

i was wondering if anyone knew where to get sliders for '09 ninja 250??!

Frame sliders or case guards?

For everything you'd want to know about Frame Sliders for the 250, check here: http://www.ninjette.org/wiki/Frame_sliders
Couldn't tell you about case guards tho. I'm looking into the R&G ones even tho they say that they only work on the UK's FI bikes. They are supposed to get back to me with a work around since the ignition coil is in the way on our carbed bikes.

Never thought about it that way, I guess on something like this its function over looks...

Agreed but for engine guards if you low side it even at speed impact is not much of a factor since the engine guards would only be slightly off the ground before the impact. Looking to wear out sliders rather then case covers.
That would be more directed at frame sliders, and I couldn't agree more, I've seen plenty of frame sliders tear rite off or dig into the bike. Even then having a hard time finding frame mounted frame sliders on this bike without fairing modification.
Not concerned with a high side as the sliders would do squat in that situation anyway.

I think your best bet if you need that level of protection is some good engine covers like NRC or Woodcraft and some low profile frame sliders. Upgraded engine covers don't break as easily as stock and the lower the profile on the frame sliders the less likely they are to rip off or apply enough leverage to cause additional damage to the bike.

The way the Sato sliders are designed they are no much more than a flat piece of aluminum bolted across the cover using long bolts. This allows for a lot of leverage to be applied the the bolt holes of the cover. Other case sliders such as Woodcraft are a single machined piece (instead of flat bar and spacers) which places less stress on the case cover.

I'm not against case covers / sliders, I have used them on my bikes. I don't like the way the Sato products are designed and have first hand experience on having the cover bolt holes destroyed because of their use where other designs have worked very well.

Problem is my limited selection of sliders and guards for my bike.
Woodcraft dosnt make sliders for my bike :(.
Been looking for months now and nothing, but will take your advise into consideration as it makes sence.

I wonder if the full covering poly covers cause that area of the engine to run a tad hotter as they will act as an extra layer of insulation, so to speak.

Check out twisted throttle, they have a couple different frame slider options for Bandits and crash guards as well. Their house brand is SW-Motech; had them on a bike that my partner crashed - they did an amazing job. If not for them, the bike would have been a write-off.

I think before you do any of this, you need to get rid of your centre stand. Oh, and fix the clearance to your fairings so you don't scratch them again!

Or I could just lower the ground hmmmm????
Been contemplating getting rid of the center stand but it's so useful to have on the bike. Maybe just take it of for gap trips.
