2005 sv650 sitting unused for 2 years old oil 10,000km. Runs no problem started on the first try. Should I take a chance and ride it 50km to get an oil change or tow it ? If I should tow who is good/cheap ;P best quote I got was $200.

Thanks !

cant wait to get my new ride =D

If licensed and insured, ride it the 50 km. Just do it at an easy pace and save the cost of towing.

Better yet, save even more money and change your own oil.

Man if you just need an oil change I'll come over and show you, don't spend $200!!! Just supply the oil and filter.

Change the oil yourself? :S... otherwise 50 km wouldn't kill it you'll be fine just don't ride it hard, she's been sleeping a long time.

Why not just do the oil change yourself?
Go to your local suzuki dealer and grab an OEM filter and whatever oil you think is best...
If you have the manual it will tell you how to change your oil step by step.

edit...
By the time i clicked to reply and the time I posted the message you have 3 posters telling you the same thing, DIY!

Sorry for the confusion. I just need to ride it home for the oil change ;P not taking it to the shop. I dont think the guy will let me do the oil change in his garage ;P

If not licensed and insured, tow it and save the $5000+ cost of no insurance and/or no plate tickets.

Check if he'll let you do an oil change first, of if he can do it for you if you supply the oil/filter. He'll probably be glad to hear that you want to take good care of his old bike. If you do it bring some cardboard to protect his driveway.

If you're JUST buying the bike,it's not insured, not plated and therefore it is definitely NOT a good idea to ride it even around the block.
Do things legit and you will have nothing to worry about.

You could usually get a temp. sticker/plate when you transfer the bike over to your name but make sure your insurance is legitimate first.
Then maybe you could think about riding it, the way it sits right now, it is not a good idea.

ride it like you stole it and enjoy that ride

I have my old plates that are still good and I plan on calling my insurance company prior to pick-up and changing my policy over to this bike. I do things by the book =D . . . . Most of the time. Like I say "Be good or be good at it"

All my oil changes are outside...what's wrong with outside?

Otherwise drive it for 50kms to get the oil warm to change it. :)

ride it 2km to a parking lot, do there. I have outdoor parking so I always do oil changes outside. no biggie, unless it's raining.

make sure to lube those cables and I hope the tires don't have flat spots. 2 years is a lot of sitting.

I got some new oil filters and crush washer for the sv650. I can also change the oil in like 30 mins. Msg me if your interested and in the GTA area. Im not flying out to the boons to do an oil change for the sake of good will.

Gonna get new tires any ways =D

Rosey Toes website says that they pick up bikes for 60$ in the GTA, dunno if they count Thornhill as part of the GTA though.
