Should I change my oil again or is it overkill???

Guys I need some advice please...this is my first spring storage startup..

Last year in November before, changing storing her away for the winter I changed the oil and filter...I thought it would be for a few months but given the winter we've had and no sign of real spring i think it'll be a while till I get her out again...It'll be over 5 months of idle sitting in the cold storage...

Should I change the oil again? I've heard oil developing acidic properties when in contact with moisture and I think the hot and cold temp fluctuations could cause just that??? 5 months sitting idle will also drain every ounce of oil from the valves and camshaft back to the crank case resulting in a micro second "oil less" startup...

Or this is not needed andI'm over thinking it....

FYI: Bike is 2013 ninja 300

If the oil was new when you stored the bike just ride it. Any moisture accumulated over the winter (which would be minimal as long as you didn't start the bike frequently while being stored) will be burnt off with some riding time.

Not needed, changing oil before storage is actually good practice.
If you're really concerned, turn over the engine a few times with the fuel pump fuse removed.

I always change my oil after winter storage before I'm gonna ride for the season. Oil over time will lose it's viscosity and will not lubricate the engine properly. Your situation is a little different since it's only been like 4 months, but personally I would change it. but I'm crazy about stuff like that

What a waste change it later oil is not affected in any way by sitting

I hope you buy the new oil and not the stuff that has been sitting on a store shelf or sitting in the ground for a few years.

Oil is like food, once you pop that seal, time's a ticking

I think there's a difference between oil in a sealed container, and oil thats been sitting in a motorcycle over winter. I'm aware what oil on the shelf is and where it comes from.

Did it transform into something different or go somewhere over the winter? Florida maybe for a vacation and tan?

ok sure you're right. Sealed oil in a container is exactly the same as oil you put in your bike and let sit for the entire winter.

Pretty much. If the bike wasn't run it'll be perfectly fine. Even if it was it would still be ok.

I'm pretty anal about my oil too but changing it just because the bike was stored with it over the winter is ridiculous. Do an oil analysis, I bet it will be exactly the same before and after winter

i did run it for a min to let it circulate throughout...but that was about it...

This is not good. I have 1/2 of 20 litre pail diesel oil vented to atmosphere. But it's just a prick. Does hole size matter?

You're toast, mate.
Let me know when I can swing-by to dispose of it. If its motomaster, its garbage anyway

Ya, it's Motomaster but that's OK, I ride garbage.

Lets see. My car says 10k km or 4 month which ever comes first... In this case did 5k or # of months come first?

This oil change threads needs to stop seriously.
