Shipping motorcycle from Montreal to Mississauga

Remember the 401 in winter is regularly coated with Calcium Chloride to melt the snow and rust your vehicle.
When I picked up my Moto Guzzi in Montreal last spring I rented the small van to keep
the bike clean. In summer I will rent a U-Haul motorcycle trailer. It is a drop axle with a good tailgate for easy loading.
I did not take the damage protection and a 5 day rental cost me $75.00

I used TFX few years back. They were great. Bought a bike from Ducati Montreal and had them drop off at Studio Cycle for the safety.

Reminder, used bikes from Quebec are never as described, even if it comes from a Ducati dealer (who claimed the tires would pass safety and never bother washing it).

Do all Uhaul vans/trucks have those anchor points to connect 4 straps to?
The smaller open trailers such as the motorcycle specific, 4 X 7 & 5 X 8 do.
The bigger open trailers may not.
I was advised some of the enclosed trailer do as well.
The trucks usualy just have strap bars along the side about 24" - 36" up from the floor.

Answered my own question about different options:

Interesting - they also have an enclosed 6x10 trailer for $60/day.

Or a pickup for the same price as their smallest van.
Home Depot vans and trucks are way nicer and much cheaper that UHaul, especially if you want to do kilometers. But the big problem is rentals aren't guaranteed, and if the guy before you doesn't bring it back when he/she says (which does happen because renters are often small-time contractors), then you're out of luck. If you can plan late, worth a shot.

The other option is to try and find a truck from Enterprise that has a hitch receiver on it, but they often don't because they don't like them being used for towing. Worth a call to your local Enterprise truck spot, though...

Not having the van/trailer returned on time to Home Depot is an issue.
UHaul has the same problem.
One of the ways around that is to make 2 seperate bookings for consecutive days and not pick-up the first one.

If the seller is flexible, try to get the van on day one and if it works, cancel day two to give the store a chance to rent it out. If the van isn't there on day one, complain that they screwed you and maybe you get a break on the price for day two.

Unless you are a big ticket contractor Home Depot does not give discounts.
I know I used to work in tool rental!
The main reason Home Depot does vehicle rentals is for customer convenience to take home product that won't fit in their vehicle.
If you are renting from UHaul be there first thing in the morning because they still over book.
Booking for the end of the month (moving days) is always a crap shoot.

What did you decide on @Relax ? Should I start shoveling around my trailer?

Appreciate the offer, but I'm leaning towards the HD truck since TFX wants $1500 plus a 6% fuel surcharge and the truck will be easier to drive/park without a trailer behind it. Just need to find a time I can actually get out there.

Procrastinate another 3 months and you can ride it home.

The u-haul motorcycle trailers have signage all over them warning of a max speed of 88 kph….

That's like the signs on the side of the road saying 80kph max
