Shane MacGowan, frontman of The Pogues, dead at 65.

Many many years ago I went to a Dubliners (Irish band a bit like the Pogues) concert and they advertised that Shane MacGowan would be singing with them. The concert started late and MacGowan didn’t show. Turns out he was too drunk to get out the dressing room.
Fairytale of New York is one of my favourite Xmas songs and Kirsty MacColl one of my favourite singers who sings with MacGowan on that track. She died many years ago in a tragic accident.
RIP to them both.

MacGowan appeared many years ago on SNL , so visibly hammered he was having trouble standing. He still turned in a great performance.
He was supposedly one of the folks that tried to help Sinead O’Connor sort herself out.
