Rust on the brand new bike!

Hi guys,

I do have question regarding rust on the brand new bike. 4 Months ago, I purchased a brand new 2013 Versys from Kahuna.
While I was installing something to my bike yesterday, I realized the rust on the bike.
(Rust is on the frame and gas tank. There is a still warranty.)

What do you guys think about this situation? What should I do? I'm stumped...

Thanks

Haluk

tough call, personally I would not worry about it,If you worried take it in and see what they say.

That only rusted because the paint chipped. Clean it up, touch it up and ride on.

Apply rust converter.

forget months, rust can happen in days if not careful. got nothing to do with the bike being new or not. chip rust off and put on black touch up paint.

It's a competition is it? I spilled DIY weed killer on the welding table. Less than 30 min.:occasion8:

Warranty doesn't cover spot rust. Use touch up paint and get over it.

Personally, I'd take it back and get the parts covered under warranty. You paid for "quality" parts..not rusting ones. Assuming you never dumped or did anything malicious to the bike causing chips on the finish or coating, it IS covered under warranty.

Ps, make sure it goes to a Kawasaki authorized dealer.

Although it is likely more than strong enough, I would be more disappointed in the craftsmanship of the weld...

For the rust bring it in and see what they say, more than likely just some cleaning and touch up paint.

I have an 05 bike. about 132,000km on it. I have zero rust. Not one spot. If you put quality parts on, keep it stored inside and keep it clean you should be able to keep it rust free. Now my Jeep on the other hand, I had rust on it the second day.

No one is going to replace a frame over a little cosmetic rust. They will likely just touch up the spots, if they do anything at all...This is a tiny molehill.

Thank you very much guys for your advice. I do have an appointment at 18 of August at the dealer for an other reason. When I go there, I'll ask them.
If they don't do anything, I found some products such a rust cleaners, I'll clean it my self.

Thanks. :)

Stones from riding will hit parts and chip them. Just remove the rust with some rust cleaner or a small wire brush, put some rust paint on it to touch it up and it's done nothing to worry about, it won't be the last time a bit of paint chips off.

How the hell? My exhaust headers look like they're getting cancer. It stopped after I sprayed that pink miracle stuff (forgot what it's called) but the cancer is still there =(

It's likely not rust, but rather road crap burned onto the hot pipes. Modern bikes have fashionable shorty front fenders that are completely useless to prevent stuff from splattering on the engine and exhaust.
