Cool. My buddy had an old RC8. Was quite the beast, but suffered from typical KTM fit and finish issues, and snatchy throttle/fueling.

That was over 10 years ago though. I'm sure the current model will have a whole different set of issues!

something odd about the swingarm

my head can't grasp how this side could show an angle on the swingarm like this, given the shape of it shown from the other side.

looks more akin to a single sided swingarm, unless it's cast with asymmetrical shapes on each side? iunno, it's bothering me.

The swingarm isn't symmetrical. Honda has done this before (with their so-called "Gull Arm" swingarm). It's straight on the chain side, curved upward on the other side to clear the exhaust. Same situation here. With that swingarm evidently being built up from castings, it's pretty easy to do that.
