Didn't all of this start with John Deere beating on farmers a couple of years ago?
Something about software that one can use but not modify...I forget.
A buddy is a mechanic and has to buy the software to fix stuff. I can't recall the exotic make but $2500 for the software.
The Saturday mechanic can't do much anymore and the next step would be to eliminate the independent garages.
I had to scrap a $5,000 piece of test equipment because it was obsolete from a parts availability stand point.
If the battery goes on my Iphone I know the Apple price to change it will be so exorbitant that a new phone would make more sense. If I go to an aftermarket battery can I trust it to not grenade?
If it has moving parts or blinking lights it isn't forever.
