Riding in rain (pic)...

Never mind riding in the rain, I'm more concerned about people using their cell to take pics while driving ;)

This.

I keep an eye on the weather. If it's raining for my commute to work, I'll take the car. If it's not going to rain until after I get to work, I'll ride. I don't mind getting wet on the way home, but getting wet going to work sucks.

And this.

I got caught in the storm yesterday when I was heading back home from Woodbridge. Felt like portions of the 400 were flooded/flooding, and I got off at Keele to take cover. Good choice, as most of the roads around there were also flooding, to the point I had water a good 5-6" or more deep at some points.

The rain/flooding itself isn't so bad, but what other idiots on the road start doing is. It's like people suddenly forget how to signal, or how to drive altogether. So I pulled off and hung out at a Timmies for about an hour or so, until the weather was more manageable.

Then I got completely soaked again as soon as I left.

Go figure.

Environment Canada screwed up royally yesterday. They were calling for "scattered showers ending in the evening". Eventually they changed their forecast to "Noah's flood"

Got caught in monsoon rains on the way back from Lake Placid Tuesday. Proper gear and a little skill goes a long way. That said, if the weather channel is calling for a good chance of rain and the radar confirms it, I'll just take the car to work; while I'm comfortable with my skill level in the rain, I'm not comfortable with the skill level of those around me.

I check the weather but only to see if I need my rain over gloves on.

I commute 160k. Every day round trip from Port Perry and the only time I don't ride is if I absolutely have to have my car for some car related errand (like picking up my sister at the airport) or if there is going to be snow on the roads.

I don't like doing it but you act like riding in the rain is such a bad thing. I ride in winter but hate the rain, heh.

I checked the weather early yesterday on 3 different sources. All said no rain anywhere between Toronto and Mt Forest after about 9am. Checked again at 10am. Everywhere said rain.

I got spat on a bit between Toronto and Orangeville and then rain hit in Mt Foreset about 20 mins after I arrived.

Riding in the rain can produce some unexpected zen moments.

I got stuck in the middle of nowhere in PA last friday night and my headlight burned out. Only had my small LED marker lights and it was a severe downpour for hours. 3hrs of rainstorms until we could find a hotel. Riding on a set of well-used Q3's coming back from the Dragon. Riding in the rain isn't the issue, the time it took to clean up the bike was.

I was a genius and didn't check the weather the other day. Rode from Lindsay to Lakefield about an hour ride in a severe thunderstorm. Roads were all flooded, cars were even pulling over but this girl just kept trekking on lol. It's a good thing I had a truck in front of me to clear some of the huge puddles for awhile, they were at least up to my bottom fairing! By the time I got home I might as well have jumped in the pool with all my gear on. Leather gloves are ruined though I've had them for 5 years time for a new pair anyway!

Normally if the weather is bad I stay behind a car. When vision is bad, its good that if they hit an obstacle I will see it before it approaches me

frog toggs for the win... only scared of snow.
I don't mind getting wet at all and I have Frogg Toggs. I don't like the lack of traction.

Cleaning up the bike? Isn't that what rain is for?

This is especially sound advice where ducks are involved, either directly or tangentially.

I really do not like riding in the rain...but If i get caught in the middle of it then w/e...

....safest place to ride in severe rain is on the 401

...1 drop...just 1 drop of rain...and its jammed bumper to bumper. No problems with traction...you'll be going at 20kmph :)

I honestly can't see at night when its raining. Freaks me out. Its partially my vision but also which I had little wipers on my visor, now there's an idea!

Here's me riding in the rain a couple of summers ago. Ended up getting caught in the stupid stuff. My poor Axel Sticks got all dried out! ;)

Since then I have upgraded the gear and I have Olympia Airglide pants and jacket that I use if I need to ride in the rain.
