Pretty awesome of them.
This is very typical of Japanese hospitality and thoughtfulness. You will not find that here in north America. Bike porn, Japanese food porn...LOL!
Would this trip be doable for a person that can't speak any Japanese?

Absolutely.
At the very least you should remember "Hai-Ee-Aw-Ku Man-Tan" which is what you tell the attendants at the gas stations. It basically means Hi-Octane. Fill up the tank. (and the bike rental company tells you to remember that phrase too) The majority of the gas stations there are full service and I never found a self service one while I was there.
Before I left for Japan I learned a bunch of words and phrase in Japanese. I learned all the different ways of saying hello and goodbye as well as please and thank you. I think it's very important to learn how to say please and thank you in the language of the country you are visiting.
However, when I was ordering food I would mainly point at the menu and the majority of people in Japan understood basic English.

The corner carvers on here may not like the pace I was taking in this vid.
But the accumulative worry of the odd yellow bumpy strips in some corners as well as the funny groves in other corners that made the bike feel unplanted meant I took most corners at a leisurely pace.

I love the cb1300! It socks honda N.A doesn't bring it to Canada.. If they did, I would buy one in a heart beatIt's still a current machine in Japan and Australia and the retro look is very much in style these days
Very much in the tradition of the RD400 back in the day.
The Vtech lets the CB400 punch above its class while staying in learner class. Inline 400 from Honda ...sweet as it comes.
