Riding Down Under - Tropical Cairns Australia

Noraly looks wonderful ...China impressive.

Mac swapping days - decided on a 14" instead of the 13"

smooth and easy given the wiff.
It's still too warm to sleep without a/c

It feels nice out on the deck with fans running bingeing Antiques Roadshow

Had to get the neurons going on this one
Tennis was too good to go riding ...near miss for Sinner :sneaky:

Well the crazy Germans made it to the northern tip of Australia.
1,027 km north of me!

Noraly can travel the world for me as long as she's willing
2,000 year old city and a peaceful feel sort of like Japan - there is sense of the no kids problem…..China is aging very fast….but damn is it a modern, clean technological civilization …at least what we see

I only touched China briefly in 1982 on honey moon …Guangchou couple hundred km from Hong Kong …modern open city and the old regime was dying….
All I feel from China is new and refreshing now
A better empire imnsho
Closer to Europe than North America in feel …..quieter than most of Asia/India

While I’d love to go there it would be a life time to explore and the language both spoken and written a huge barrier.
partner would never go - a bit of xenophobe in her mainly due to animal/food culture and a few other things
Does not even want to do Japan…I think our travels are mostly done and the barriers rising.
Damn $200 for a 30 day Aus visa ….was $20 😳

100 years out will humans still have a multilingual world and what will be dominant?? 🤔
English has a leg up being the tech language especially for aircraft

Minus 15 degrees Celsius, howling wind and 15 to 20 cm. of snow now falling on top of the 10 cm base of earlier snow.
Looks like the only handlebars that are going to be used for the next couple of days are on the snowblower.
And this is SOUTHERN Ontario, Canada?
The bikes are shivering in the garage.

While mine was wilting in the heat tho the last couple of days rather drowning instead. Joys of riding.🙏

This Noraly wannabe drives me crazy. She natters and over dramatic for some stuff. She only has 28k subscribers. Good drone and doing hotels. I do like the bike she is riding after questioning her choice.
But spectacular scenery - Rainbow Mountains - and China is blowing me away so another look

There is similar near Denali in Alaska but no where as vivid....also some in Chile. These are astonishing.

Despite marginal sleep the day worked out. Catheter change not too traumatic and timing worked out with the MacBook Air buyer.

hmmmmm
Starting on Monday, Wordle will begin adding previously run words back into play.
This is pretty big news! But I kind of wish they’d just done it quietly without fanfare. I mean, they’ve never officially said that they won’t repeat words until now. Reactions would have been entertaining.

Brain stopped at 1 am Undeserved birdie
Too little sleep, too much tasty lamb at Bowls Club ... fell into bed.

Got a solid 7 hours last night and a few days of decent riding given it is the wet season.

Maybe go for a short ride and have coffee with Bruce since whatever is going on with Ozempic has increased by tolerance for a latte tho I think my appetite is perhaps too regained ...maybe up the dose a bit as a bit of the munchies has returned....and food noise.

Wimped out on a ride. Terrific tennis at the AO quarter finals. Nail biter 5 sets #1 vs #3

Sinner vs Djok on now.. 🍿

Sinner and Djok ...could not stay awake for it...missed another 5 set classic and its not on catch up yet. :cautious:

I was barely staying awake at 9 pm when we finished our evening session of The Expanse.

Back to back quarter finals of 5 set tennis just too much. That's like 9 hours of court play o_O Must have been a hell of a match as Sinner looked very strong for the little I managed to watch...he was up two break points in the first.

4.40 am inspiration hits

despite the headache

Picked up a brand new Dianese summer jacket for $75. 🕺
Got out for a short ride today - felt weird riding without a jacket to get the new one.
The new jacket looked "off" with the way over sized AirGlide pants but with the Rev'it light weight riding pants it's a decent combo. I need a thin cotton riding shirt for this hot weather. Downside of jacket is no inside pocket.
Riding pants need a laundering - fair bit of road grime. Mirror needs a clean too.

Maybe should keep the Schuberth C3...feels like a comfortable old shoe. Will test tomorrow. The new helmet is light and easy to wear but the whistle when the visor is open is annoying. Something I likely can track down.
The Rev'it pants have CE2 knee armor - the extra knee pads would be too hot

She drives me buggy but I love the sound of her bike and she gets to interesting places.

Marc back on an EV ...EVE II.... going to Africa  🍿
I still want one ....
Almost there for me and available now - I could ride this.
https://iscoot.com.au/products/segway-ninebot-e300se-e-motorbike
105 kph top speed, 130 km range ( not quite enough ), $6999 .... - decent needs to come down to $5k for me.

Price speed and range nudging what I want.
The cheaper batteries with longer range will get me what I want.

An eye opener on Chinese production
I don't think Australia will get all isolationist. Needing to have a motorcycle licence to ride these bigger machines is a good idea but will limit uptake. Several of the factories have a presence in Australia.

I continue to be impressed with what I see of China.
Company producing this has 100 million EV machines it has produced for sale around the world.
He just casually mentioned sodium ion batteries in passing.
I could likely live with this even now for every thing I need around the city.
2 year warranty.

Maybe a treat for my 80th bday. The Flash lite would save us a fair bit over riding the CB500F, would love the throttle thrill and the quiet.
There is an enormous network of cycle paths in Cairns and region.
Would lose the Tablelands tho :(

Off pavement hooligan - in another life

Wordle 1689 > Well they warned us about repeats
.... CIGAR was the solution to Wordle 0001
Once I realized that, the solution was obvious given the timing of the warning. Likely a bit of flutter in the henhouse

My 14" iMac Pro Screen.
1770188047492.png

The 14-inch MacBook Pro features a Liquid Retina XDR display that is widely considered "astonishing" due to its advanced Mini-LED technology, offering1000 nits of sustained brightness for SDR and 1600 nits peak brightness for HDR content. It provides a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, delivering true blacks and brilliant highlights, making it ideal for professionals, content creators, and HDR media consumption.
Lying here wallowing in images that just are amazing.
You get a high end demo and
Even my own photos, some of which are HDR are jaw dropping.
