Riding behind a cattle truck !

Wait till you get stuck behind a rendering truck, the smell from that is absolutely one of the worst things I have ever had to smell. When I was working on a highway job a few years back one would drive through almost every day and the smell would stay there for a good couple of minutes, wouldn't want to be on a bike behind one.

What is a rendering truck? Leftovers from the slaughter house on their way to being hot dogs or dog food?

I've been stuck behind a garbage truck and a livestock truck filled with pigs presumably on the way to the slaughter house. Experienced both on 30°+ days and both were equally disgusting to me.

Cracks me up every time I take a new lady friend out for a spin and she detects the scent of freshly spread manure. At first she isn't quite sure what smells so bad. People always forget that things smell better and worse when you're not in a cage.

I ride by every morning and afternoon as carlingview is my exit... but i find it quite a nice smell!!

Worked there for 7 years...Barley soup my friends!

The whole city of Guelph smells like cow patties in the spring. Went to school there and that's how you knew winter was over. ;)

Between the cattle and the pigs, I'll take the cattle thank-you.

The old squealer express down to the Niagara abbatoir is a treat alright. Some of the more defiant pigs manage to aim between the trailer slats and nail nearby cars.

That reek is nothing compared to when they burn the hair off the carcasses, though. It's the worst, hands down and it carries, too. If the wind is right, at least as far as King and Spadina.

.

The rendering places collect mostly the fat cut offs and render (Melt) them down to make the greasy bases for stuff like face creams. There's a big place on highway 5 near Flamborough.
