That was me. Happened about 10:45pm sunday on my way home from work.
I wish I could tell you exactly what happened but all I remember was riding down street towards the escarpment with a vehicle coming towards me in the opposite lane then looking at the side of a big suv after I was already in the intersection. Other than that I remember standing in the road looking at my bike in pieces trying to figure out how my front tire was laying on the road but the rim was gone. I don't even remember the police or ambulance arriving yet I have scene pictures on my phone with a police car in some but I don't remember taking pics either. My R1 was beyond totaled. The officer told me in the ER that the driver was charged but I don't know for what exactly.
My friend from work says he was under the train bridge when it happened and heard it but didn't see it. He told me there was an off duty paramedic that called 911 and set up the flares. I vaguely remember him so if anyone hears someone talking about it please thank him for me. My friend said he was pretty shaken up just seeing the scene and couldn't believe I survived let alone was standing in the road. I'm pretty sure the police and EMS had similar feelings. All of whom by the way were great and I'm pretty sure the officer that came to the hospital said he rides too so if your here, thanks again.
I was at the hospital for a few hours for xrays on my neck mostly and head trauma stuff. I guess everything was alright up there but everything is banged up pretty good from ankle to shoulder and I can barely move my head and I'm starting to get a lot of pain running up both sides of my back, abdomen, collar bone, jaw and ribs. I can't seem to focus very well on anything and my head is still pounding. Everything is getting worse after some time passing even with meds which doesn't surprise me. Waiting to see what happens in the morning and may have to go back to a hospital to get checked cause I think something might be really wrong with my left knee.
Going to have to hang it up for while after that one but it could have been a lot worse.
