Ride Report: The India Ride Expedition

Day 51: As we inch closer to the completion of our journey, we can't help but think about how far we've come. Over 51 days we've covered countless kilometers, visited nearly 30 cities and circumnavigated much of India. In many ways, there is nothing left for us to do now other than return to Delhi. Today our team had a steller day covering 347km along National Highway #2 and making some great time as we pulled in to the city of Kanpur in the late afternoon. Tomorrow we'll be leaving Kanpur for Agra and then onwards to Delhi.

Day 52: I hope all is well. Today The India Ride Team conquered 292km from Kanpur to Agra on what have been some of the best roads so far on this trip. The National Highway #2, that we've mostly been on since Bihar province, as been a wonderfully maintained road and it allowed our team to make some good ground today. Agra marks a very special moment in our tour around India, as tomorrow is our last "off the bike" day as our team will visit the Taj Mahal. Yes, sure, the Taj is a huge tourist trap and millions of tourists visit each year. We know all of that. But after 53 days of traveling in India we've been building up our trip to the Taj as our grand finale in India, and to know that we'll be making that visit tomorrow gives us all goosebumps. We have seen much, and we have traveled far. Bring on the Taj Mahal!!

Day 53: It took 20 years to build, and 20,000 people dedicated their lives to building the Taj Mahal; and it is every bit as beautiful as everyone says it is. Colin and Ryan had a brilliant time today during their visit. More than just the Taj, the building itself represents something far more for our team...it represents the end of our time in India. With heavy hearts our team is nearing the end of our time in India and we've experienced so much in such a short period of time Colin and Ryan are actually keen to review all their HD video footage just so they can remember half of it. We've covered over 30 cities and countless attractions as we've truly experienced much of what Incredible India has to offer. The term "world-wind tour" does not even begin to describe how much we've seen and how positively it has influenced all of us. With the end so close, we need to remember that our final 230km tomorrow from Agra to Delhi is crucial. We'll need the same kind of pure focus that we've shown on this entire trip in order to make sure we complete our journey safely

Did anyone out there really think that we would not make it? Our team arrived at the India Gate at 2pm on October 24th. Exactly 54 days after we left from the India Gate!!

Congratulations!

Day 54: THE FINAL DAY - When our team sets their minds on something, we usually end up getting the job done. We are, in every sense of the word, people who "DO". And that's the exact attitude we carried with us over the last 54 days as we battled through some of the most populated and remote parts of India. The task we set ourselves, to circumnavigate India by motorcycle, was not an easy one and I won't lie; there were days when we didn't know if we would be able to finish our journey.

But alas after battling the elements, traffic and taking in some of India's most stunning destinations, we are safely back at our starting point: The Westin Gurgaon, our partners who have assisted us with comfort and shelter in our times of need. And after our time on the road our bodies are weary and exhausted, but our spirits are full with new and exciting stories to share with our wider audience via our book and television series which will be released in mid 2013.

While Colin, Ryan, Chad and Daniel made it around India over 54 days; they were not alone in their journey. On an expedition like this we had many partners, and many individuals reached out to us during our expedition in our times of need. And to all of them, we say thank you for helping us plan and execute this incredible adventure safely. Without our team behind us, we're just a bunch of hairy guys on motorcycles!!

Book Launch: The Middle Kingdom Ride - Our previous trip

Monday, December 3, 2012. HONG KONG — G219 Productions Limited announces that the new adventure travel book by adventures and television presenters Colin Pyle and Ryan Pyle is entitled The MIDDLE KINGDOM RIDE. The book will be published worldwide in the English language on Thursday, December 6th 2012.

THE MIDDLE KINGDOM RIDE
When Canadian brothers Colin and Ryan Pyle set out from Shanghai on a motorcycle journey that had never previously been attempted, they thought they had some idea of what lay ahead of them. It was a misconception that had become evident by the end of Day 1. But, despite the many challenges they faced, 65 days and 18,000 km later they’d succeeded in circumnavigating China.

In an expedition of extremes, Colin and Ryan visited the third lowest point on Earth and slept at Everest Base Camp beside its highest mountain. They traveled off-road through deep desert sands in suffocating heat, traversed mountain passes in freezing temperatures that turned the moisture in their clothes to ice, and rode in torrential rain through mudslides beside rapidly rising flood waters.

At the end of their remarkable journey, the brothers had strengthened the bond between them, gained a Guinness World Record, tested their endurance to its limits, and shared an adventure that most of us will only ever dream of having.
In their book The Middle Kingdom Ride, Colin and Ryan take us with them as they travel through the diverse and extraordinary landscapes of China, from its border with North Korea, to the ancient Muslim city of Kashgar, across the vast empty spaces of the Mongolian grasslands, over the mountains and into the monasteries of Tibet.
