Replacing Fairings

Im looking to change the color scheme of my bike a little so i need to get lower and mid fairings in a different color. The ones I have now are in good condition so i was wondering if it would be cheaper to get them painted or just buy aftermarket ones?

Ive never dealt with a paint shop under any circumstances so im not sure where i would even start looking.

In my experience it was about the same price either way. But I found a good deal on fairings and then it was much cheaper to just buy the fairings.

eBay. There was a guy called AsianConnection71 that sold OEM Kawi parts from Thailand. He would just go to his local dealer to pick parts up and ship them over here. Worked out to being half to a third of the price of here.

Oh, then I found a tank on eBay out of California that was old stock and about half price of what a tank would cost here.

Sorry, that doesn't help you much. :(

Its a start! thanks

Buy aftermarket pieces (paint them if required). Keep the OEM one's for when you sell your bike so that you can either return it to stock or prove it wasn't dropped (most buyers will prefer the oem style anyways).

Keep mind, those repro aftermarket fairings will not fit perfectly like OEM. Check out some youtube videos on the subject, some pretty big tank gaps.

+1. Aftermarket fairings are pure crap ..

Look at painting them, but dont forget about re sale either. When you go to sell it everyone will ask " why?" " and how bad was the crash?"

Pm "cheekeebandito" for painting. Best guy on this board.

Ya I know exactly what you mean about the re-sale. Painting would be my second option for sure.

Ill look around, hopefully ill even find some stock ones on ebay or something

Try using plastidip (cheapest solution) or vinyl wrapping the parts (still cheaper then painting and is removable).

My R6 is vinyl wrapped for the most part. When I go to sell it, I can remove the wrap and it will look brand spankin' new ;)

interesting...PM'd

I just ordered a new fairing set from abs fairings.com looks really decent and comes with the heat melt protector on them. They are custom painted and from others who have reviewed them says they're really good and fit well. My bike is plasti dipped now and I hate it. It's impossible to wash.

If you paint them, you kill the resale value of your bike.

Ya I'm a bit worried about that as well. I will just look around for stock ones

Kills resale in the gta where things are already ridiculously priced usually. Why not just look into vinyl wrapping them. Easy to take off and lots of places do that nowadays
