Repair torn bike cover

My bike will outside without any shelter for another season once I bring it out of storage. I use a quality Nelson Rigg cover that is waterproof. It has a small tear that I'd like to repair if possible. I will be buying a bigger bike this year, so I don't want to spend the dollars to replace it, when I'll be getting a new and bigger one. Also, is there a way to treat it to make sure it remains waterproof? I've used it for 2 seasons so far. Thanks.

Get a piece of tarp or canvas and sew it in from the inside, then spray the whole thing with that waterproof **** you can get at Footlocker...

I was thinking along those lines. Just wasn't sure if I could treat over a previously treated fabric.

You could look for a tent/inflatable raft repair kit and go that route as well.

I've found that the waterproofing stuff in Canadian tire with the orange lid in the spray can works the best. I work outside a lot and have tried most types

If you sew it you need a really expensive thread or you will run the risk of leaks.
You could probably try an iron on patch depending were it is. Or just use a flexable glue.
A hard glue will probably make it rip/tear around the patch. I would patch both sides.
If you plan on waterproofing it you might be wise to wash it first.That will clean all the dirt off
and allow the treatment to work and stick better. But there is no issue re-treating it.
I would give it at least two coatings.

Duct tape? It should do the trick to a short term fix.
