Registering a bike that is from Japan ..

This just popped back up on Kijiji: http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...registered-honda-cbr-250rr-W0QQAdIdZ385877940

The original post indicated that there was no Ontario ownership papers, now there is. If Bracebridge wasn't so far from me I wouldn't mind checking it out. 3200.00 sounds like a fair price for a rare 94 CBR 250rr with super low KMS.

Infernobuster was this the bike you were looking into picking up for 3K?

ghhh yeah. Avoid this bike at all costs ..

It has 64,000 k on it, needs new tires, chain/sprockets, fork seals, something up with front brakes, rear brake switch, tank is bubbling, front/rear rims are just spray painted and chipping badly,
barely any oil in the bike, and he was reving it up. tons of screws loose, or completly gone.

Looks like a fun bike back in the day though ..

too bad...... from the pictures looks like a wicked little bike.....

pictures are deciving......

That they are. But the guy said he had like 18 people interested, and they were all coming out this weekend.

For someone to invest a few grand in this bike, it would be worth it.

Snap! sounds like a lot of time will be spent to get it up to par for daily riding. I was actually planning on seeing the bike a few days ago

Thanks infernobuster for saving me the 2 hour drive out.

No worries, there were others who were travelling almost 4 hours away to see it too.

Hey guys,

My first post here. Been lurking for a bit so figure it was time. When I saw the ad for the MC22 I knew right away that I wanted the bike so I made a trek up North. Buddy has a cottage nearby so it would make the trip worthwhile in a worst case scenario.

Although I got a good deal on the bike, the first few weeks was an absolute nightmare. Not only in maintenance but issues with MTO and insurance since it doesn't have an 17 digit Ontario vin. I was beginning to question my choice in getting a project bike as my first bike. Especially an import where parts are hard to source.

I'm a DIY car enthusiast so I figured how hard can it be. Despite the neglect this bike has endured, things have been going rather well on this 21yo bike. I love you Seafoam. I was able to finally park my car for 4 weeks and did my daily commute on the bike. As I learned to ride, I also learned the workings of the bike (sometimes not by choice) Lol.

I'm still working through some minor things and awaiting parts which unfortunately maily come from down-under and indonesia where the bike still has a cult following. Cosmetically, she's good from far but far from good as a previous poster mentioned. My focus this season is on how the bike runs. I will pretty her up over the winter.

I'm now proud to say I'm an owner of a CBR250RR. Its a blast to ride. Even for friends who have many years experience on bigger displacements. Love the attention from people who know bikes and love it when people are like WTF when hearing the 19K revving inline 4 pull up next. "IT'S ONLY A 250" :) She's a keeper even if I move to a bigger displacement. Looking forward to meeting some other riders.

Congrats, any pics?
I want to get a NC30 as my next bike as well, glad you are enjoying your MC22.

im not sure what i can contribute to this.. but i do have an fzr 250, and other than the nail i got stuck in my tire from the long weekend, it is pretty freaking awesome. 18.5k redline, she sounds awesome! (or at least i think it does). parts for it are a *****, and you'll probably have to source from ebay or do some good researching to see whats compatible. i already found out that the rear disc break thats made by EBC is discontinued, and i was lucky to find one on ebay. I'm sure you know your sh*t, and if its something you want and its something you can work on yourself, then go for an import. maybe not the exact one your looking for, unless nuak can do all that for you.

weird that this one didn't come in ready for the road in canada. previous owner did purchase my fzr250 from nuak, but it was ready to go for the road. as for insurance, state farm did ask me to take a proper picture of the VIN, and it was stamped onto the front end, unlike the traditional area I'm used to seeing it (on the frame). as per state farm, i don't think it matters as an import as they charge by CCs. it will just be tougher for the agent, but thats not our job to write the insurance.
