Recommendation for a Touring Jacket

I like the layered as you are doing with the overjacket.
Also technical underwear and shirts really help - stay off cotton when it's cold.
What's under the jacket and against your skin is as important if not more so than the jacket itself.

I can wear my mesh JR with the liner down to about 12 and then my bright yellow iCon rain jacket takes me down to 8 even in the rain.

If you are going to ride colder than that then a full touring jacket with very good wind protection is an expensive investment.

I got a tourmaster transition 3.0
Its a bargin for the price & it has good reviews

That is what I would get if I were in the market. Very impressive and I like Tourmaster quality.

If there were mountains about I'd say worthwhile but for a maybe 2 months need if that - not sure layers are not your best bet.

Heated grips help a lot.

I like layers as this time of year it can be 4-6 degrees in the morning and 20 and even higher in the afternoon and layering really helps then.

No need to purchase multiple jackets, layers etc, I tried many of these options. Just use your summer bike jacket and a tour master heated jacket (not vest) and tshirt underneath and you will never be cold again. Best investment I ever made. 3 heat settings for varying temps. Works perfect

Gerbings Hybrid LT heated jacket. Lifetime warranty on heating elements and have the option for a battery pack, when your off the bike.

The battery pack lasts me more than 2 hours on low setting, which is warm enough for Fall weather.

I'm also looking for a touring jacket, but I'll wait until January show. This way I can go to the show and try on as many jackets as I can under one roof.

I recommend Rev’it Everest GTX.
I wore it in -6 weather and it kept me warm even on the highway with its magical warmth layer. It has 100% waterproof shell. Tested. It has SAS tech armor that molds to your body. With vents open it’s good even during the warmer days. It’ll last for years. Top notch jacket, but on a pricy side.

No doubt it's an impressive jacket, but there's nothing magical about it. Best fleece insulation out there is polartec thermal pro and best synthetic loft insulation is primaloft one. While built in goretex is nice for rainy days, in warm weather it would be much more comfortable if it was removable. It's way better and more cost effective to buy dedicated layers

Thermal liner is removable. “Magical” word used to describe how well it works. Not familiar with materials you mentioned. I’m sure they are even more magical. Just letting mimico_polak know what my experience is with the Rev’it option.
