Given the short distance of the race, combined with the long wheel base of the rat bike, it's no surprise that it won. If the race had been a full 1/4 mile, I think the 1000rr would have had the advantage.

HD's are big engines..1600cc or more. The custom engines produce serious torque at low rpm. That, combined with a long wheelbase and shorter gearing, it's not impossible that any newish sportbike would be beaten in an 1/8 mile or 60' launch competition.
 
It's one thing to crank on the throttle on the track, quite another to launch from a stop. I think the SS rider was a bit timid.

The HD did haul some mule tho. But, he could dump the clutch and give r without worry.
 
Cool video to watch. The 'Yamazuki' (lol) guy was gullible as the day is long. Pretty thick to not realize he was ****ed with the 1st race. Masochist maybe? Or maybe wanted the Rat owner to use up an extra 2 of the only 30 or 40 races the Rat has in it before a tear down again.

Damn, it had a nice sound though..RR guy should have picked up on that right away...clueless..but to this day, I'll bet a memorable lesson taught. Especially now that he's famous...sorta, hahaha

Maybe he meant an old video? That Idomo beard was freaky though. I was expecting mice and spiders to jump out and attack the cameraman.

It was probably longer before it got caught in that open primary.

Harley rider can really launch his bike. He's BSing about the 70hp, that's only about 10hp more than a stock EVO motor. 3" open belt primary, heavy duty clutch, hot cams, big bores etc. Sure it's got a long wheelbase but it's all up front, swingarm looks stock length but rear is slammed. I'm surprised he didn't wheelie it. Honda rider would've smoked him on a longer run, that wasn't even 100m.
