Raglan ??

A friend of mine was there last Saturday and the cops showed and wouldn't leave until they were gone.

GSXMAER, I remember it like that, actually fun back then. Here's the flattened state it's in now. Very boring to ride now and don't feel like paying $115 in fines because I'm way too easy to pick out of a crowd being the only one on a trike.

I had one of those... bloody thing was wild, I was the only person crazy enough to ride it like a savage and get it to turn....

I had it in addition to my bikes, and every time I lent it to friends (which was allot) every single one put it upside down within 10 minutes... I spent more time straightening bent bars levers and pegs... god that thing was a blast. "The Electric Kettle" it was dubbed.

I've been riding there for......well everywhere,,, for 20 years.. This brings back lots o memories.....yes the cops are there...every so often....there are legal areas up there.....the area is 40 klms long by 1 to 3 klms wide.... harmony road to the 115 hwy....the unopened road allowence is legal all the way across.....there are many abandoned properties up there.....cops cant touch you there......I have camped there for 4 days in a row with the cops chasing everyone...helicopters with night vision.....guys with illegal sub machine guns shooting propane tanks......I love this place....#1 stolen car burning place.....I even found a dead biker in the woods!!!!!sad story...and almost died there myself........lots of memories...........ride there you will have a BLAST....you can ride from here to the Ganaraska forest

thanks for posting, laughed pretty good when i read the biker part but guess its not that funny, took me a min to fuigure out that an xray..

gotta say though that story sound like makings of a mad max film called Raglan :D

It would be nice if the "official open date" was posted using signage AT the entrances to the Ganny... not everyone who visits the ganny has the foresight to do one of these weird inter-weeeb searches before entering.

Went out to Raglan again today. Not as many people there this week but everyone seemed to be worried about the cops showing up. This will be my last time there this year. Ganny opens next weekend. Better trails and you can ride legally

They have patrol too. They werent too happy to see me. They told me to leave, I asked if I can take one more run at the hill and they told me they wouldnt chase me, but they would call the cops. So I took a quick run at the hill and then bolted out of there.

Yeah from what I've read the road is legal. Lafarge owns the pits so it's not like it is a conservation area and you are going to do damage. It will be a big hole in the ground soon enough.

Lafarge started flattening the pit last year and closing off the entrances so I'm guessing it won't be too long before they fence it off and do their thing.

Have fences EVER stopped us from dirtbiking before?
lol

Did you ask what there doing with the site?

Yes, it is all over the quad forums. The current owner donated it to Kawartha Lakes conservation (probably a tax incentive). It is now off limits to anything motorized. They will be opening it for people walking and nature stuff.

I believe you are talking more of the burketon area. The raglan pit is owned by Lefarge and will soon be a gravel pit.

The cops were in there all day on Saturday on their ATV's ticketing people. I got stopped on Boundary road for a document check while I was on an ODSC ride. You are legally allowed to ride on Boundary Road and Byers road as long as you are blue plated.

I stand corrected. I was talking about Burkton. I was thinking Raglan because I cant get to raglan without passing through Burkton.

Yeah you are correct, Burkton closed down over a year ago for a conservation area. It kinda sucks, I kinda liked Burkton better than Raglan! Less sand to bog around in. :(

I miss burkton!

Don't we all :(

A friend got a $115 ticket last weekend for being in raglan, he said that there was 4 cops on atvs. Sounds like there getting serious about keeping everyone out now.
