Radar Traps On Top Of 400 Highway Bridges Today

Public service announcement. The OPP has "snipers" with radar guns on top of bridges overlooking the 400 North, there was one at Sheppard ave W bridge, one at Highway 7 bridge and one at Teston Rd bridge. There's units on the shoulder of the highway hiding so you don't see them and think the coast is clear but there's an OPP sniper clocking you on top of the bridge and he radios in your car make and color.

Be careful because you can't see the sniper on the bridge, he is on the other side and clocks you from behind when you pass under him. You have been warned.

Always wondered how these guys cascade information to a unit up ahead. I get it if the vehicle is a yellow sports car but there are usually a bunch of black SUV's in every pack. How do they know they have the right one?

Wow....these guys must be starving!

Not fair that we aren't allowed to run Radar/Lidar detectors!!

There's thousands of people using them anyway. Mostly the Escort Redline. That's why OPP are shooting from behind, they're looking for brake lights, then they pull you over and search your car for the detector. Redline has memory though, and transmits to a cloud which relays the info to other Redline Detectors which will alert the driver when approaching the last known location of the OPP radar.

Lots of OPP out today. I saw 3 along Elgin Mills alone. 1 was a radar trap standing in a driveway, not sure how they get away with that. At least it got that jackass following me off my tail... 🙄

they do that on the 401 westbound from Cambridge to Windsor...trick is to keep an eye on the overpasses as you're approaching and if you see a stationary dot in the middle, chances are it's a copper with a radar gun...seen them a few times myself...
The one I see frequently is the bridge just past the OnRoute in Woodstock (westbound) with 3 or 4 chase cars lined up on the on-ramp.

I find that if I don't exceed the posted speed limit by more than a few kmh it doesn't matter how many speed traps the OPP have set up.

I know... I know... Everyone here is a highly skilled rider/driver, but... the public roads are populated with everyone from the 90 year old guy who's been driving since Definbaker was PM to the 17 year old girl who just got her licence.
Not everyone can handle driving at140kmh...

Buddy its the brain dead slow drivers who cause accidents and pile ups. The fast drivers zoom past you and you will never rear-end them with your tractor trailer. How you know the threshold is 140 km/h and not 110 km/h to get a ticket?

Define "slow driver" for us.
And proof read your posts before you click on post reply so we can understand them.

No, no it's not. It's the Mario Andretti wannabes who either pile into the back of the people doing the speed limit or lose control of their car while weaving through traffic who cause accidents.

I ride 20-25 over on the 401 and somehow magically never have problems with getting pulled over. Weird, huh?

Glad I stayed home today then. Typically clipping along 120-130 depending on flow and don’t want the ticket.

Haven’t really seen much OPP recently. Yesterday drove up the 400 and the first one I saw was under the Horseshoe Valley Rd bridge.

Must be a blitz of some sort. I'm surprised they didn't announce it like they usually do, which honestly, baffles me.

120-130 on the 401 doesn't seem to attract much attention honestly. Certainly not 120 at least. They're looking for the 135+ crowd.

Gotta admit I like speed. I might be lucky, or maybe smart, but I have 1 speeding ticket in a couple million miles.

I go with the flow, if the highway is fast then I’m fast. In urban areas I stick to 10 over.

occassionslly I’ll go for a romp on my bike, I choose roads that don’t attract heat.

Didn’t see any going north on the 400 from Rutherford rd in Vaughn to Barrie this afternoon and evening coming back, was having fun the whole way up and down too..

Just a FYI, I've also seen this done on a few times from the pedestrian bridge over Highway 10 just north of Olde Base Line Road. So if you're on the way to Forks of the Credit on 10 make sure you look at what's on the bridge as you crest the hill!

Highway 10 and Airport Road ought to be well known cop magnets. Careful through Caledon Village, as well.
