Race Fairings / Bodywork

Looking for some feedback on race fairings and bodywork. What manufacturer(s) do you recommend? What are the best quality/fit and which ones are the best quality for the $$$. Where is the cheapest and best place to buy them?

Armour bodies is what I have. Stay away from Hotbodies, they're crap.

I got a set of these as well and I would NOT recommend them at all. He may have tried to copy the mold but failed horribly, the fit sucked and when I brought it to his attention his customer service stunk...just a warning based on my experience.

Not my impression. I'm satisfied, also he fit them for me and had a good long pleasant chat with him. Are you by any chance the mechanical engineer (or something like that) he mentioned, who expected track bodywork to fit precisely to the fractions of mm?

The stuff was total crap! It is falling apart, zero flex. Maybe he though since I was American he could screw me! Who know. Now that I am more into the race/track crowd I have heard a lot of bad things about his work. Total crap. Hell, the **** cracked while screwing it down. Way to much epoxy in the mix! Do not get this crap, trust me!

I don't know. I've been using and abusing mine, also two crashes and minor damage, the second time the bike flipped over and fell on the windshield at an angle...minor damage on the fairings which I fixed myself. Maybe you were screwed, who knows..

U said it, I was totally screwed. I had to cut parts off just get it on, the thing is falling adapt with normal track use. Total ****. I have had several people look at it and they can't believe how horrible the **** is. Maybe he just screws Americans. I don't know, I can tell u this...every chance I get I will talk crap about this guy and the total cap he gave me FOREVER!

You already mentioned it twice, what does being american have to do with it, you think he has a **** stock pile saved to give to americans only? There are always two sides to the story, I am very aware to the way in which people provide feedback.

How about posting some pictures, I personally have never seen bodywork falling apart without some sort of a crash at the very least...

I've had a set of squidskins also similar to Corsara's and had no issues. Had a minor off and it was easy to repair cause it is fiberglass. Lots of choices out there. Remember it's for track days or racing. So it needs to be reasonably priced and easy to repair.

He makes/made these to order, so no there was no stock pile. The fairing was made to order. The problem was that to much epoxy was used which prevents the fiberglass from flexing.

Better yet, next track day look for a black R6 with "54" on it and come see for your self. It has been crashed, so those areas of course are rashed up, but its the rest of it that is frustrating. I have to be careful when get it back on because of the frame sliders...I have had it crack (small cracks, but still) just doing that.

To the OP, as in most things made my hand, you can get great or horrible stuff. Just be cautious about squid skins...maybe he was just have an off day when he did mine, I don't know. I can tell you this, the next set that I am going to get is Armour bodies as they have a tremendous amount of flex.

Any chance you tried to flex it too much during the cold winter months? There's a reason Vette owners don't drive them too much in the cold u know.. Mine were made to order too, and I even went to the extreme to store them in the basement and not even try them in the coldest of times. Come spring, I can bend well beyond my sliders with no issues whatsoever.

I don't know you from Adam or him.

Your rant is too much.

You talk like you read something on the internet and now you know more about the topic than anyone else. Resin = money. So if anything poor workmanship would be usually unsaturated reinforcement not too much resin. Post some pics. If you want to learn more about epoxies, vinyl esters, polyesters, chop strand fiberglass, biaxial reinforcement etc give me a note and I'll teach you more than you can read online.
