.....with the discussion of the DoFo insurance thread, gotta` wonder. This year has been terrible for motorcycle fatalities and injuries. How long before the companies become even more punitive with rates ( bottom line matters obviously), and dog help us if the gov`t meddles even more in them..... Thoughts?

Riders dying is tragic but not a bad situation for insurance companies. The life-altering injuries are the ones they fear.

Every report, lots of them, with the rider taken to a trauma center or suffering life altering injuries is brutal. When I see or hear the Ornge medevac chopper coming out of my local regional airport every summer I say a quick prayer.

Some will see an increase.
Some will see a decrease.
Some will stay the same.

I've never had a decrease - but I wouldn't object.
The year I turned 25 I was hoping for the mythical substantial decrease and it went up. I called and they said I had gone down relatively as if I hadn't turned 25, my rate would have gone up a lot (no claims or tickets just bend over).

Rates *might* go up in 2026. I would put money on them DEFINITELY going up in 2027, if you retain all the now optional accident benefits

I was shocked when mine went down last year, we'll see what happens this year.

We get refunds here in BC.

Quite regularly too - car and bikes.

Have seen a lot of cheques sent from ICBC ever the last few years.

Did some digging and found this:

“As a result of prudent fiscal management and the strong financial position of ICBC, we have another opportunity to put money back into the pockets of ratepayers,” said Garry Begg, Minister of Public Safety and Solicitor General. “This rebate is just one small way for ICBC to give back to its customers as we all navigate global economic uncertainty and increased costs in the face of unjustified tariffs.”

This marks the fifth rebate for ICBC customers since February 2021, a total of approximately $640 in rebates for every eligible customer.

I think we've seen rebates of over $2000 for our household ever since moving here.

Colour me shocked!

Very nice, but why does everyone get the same amount - shouldn't it be a percentage of their premium paid?
