Portage Road/Niagara Parkway this past weekend

People actually do the speed limit on Niagara Parkway?

Not the god damn american tourists. They hover around 35kmh the whole way and its so busy during the day you cant pass for a while.
And at night when all the tourists are sipping Niagara wine in theit hotels, the parkway has a decent police presence and deers too.

Thing were a little different in Niagara Falls twenty odd tears ago my friend. Before May 24 and after Labour Day (and during the week, for the most part) the Parkway was a de facto TT course.

Still is late at night in the autumn = have done it twice this year and nary a car let alone a cop around tho I was in no hurry..
- it still ain't 5-6 minutes.
...and what does what I ride have anything to do with ******** claims about 5-6 minutes....

38km is more accurate but I was generous and took it edge or town to edge of town....I grew up in the area - I know it......

Now Ridge Road....THAT's good riding - too bad it's too short. Parkway is too flat - only bit of interest is over that stone bridge and that used to be MUCH more interesting 20 years ago.....bit of air time on an S.:confused1:

Which Ridge road r u talking about? All the Ridge Rd's I know in the area are just straight shoots.

Averaging 200 kmh on the Upper Parkway (which is pretty easy) is about a 10:30-11 minute run. On a litre bike pushing it, 9:00ish. If you closed it and brought in TT specialists, you could probably see mid 7s.

The "interesting" part of the Ridge Rd. he's talking about is 3 or 4 km long. Outsde of a couple of corners at the start off Centennial (and some off-shoots on other roads) the rest is pretty straight.

So true, I was behind an SUV from NY on that single lane road in busy traffic and dude was driving like he thought someone was going to take an aim at him at every corner and shoot, kept hitting brakes 500 meters before every bend besides driving 5kms below the already slow speed limit...
