pilot road 3/4 vs power 3

I need new tires this spring and I'm not 100% sure what to get. Before selling my fz I got power 3s for it and loved them. I wanted to get them again for the zx but as I'm making a trip to nova scotia this June that will be mostly highway I am leaning to the road 3 or 4. Would I be right to choose the roads over the powers given the higher kms on highways I'll be riding this year? I'm a bit worried about cornering grip as I do like to boot it every 2-3 weekends up north but even then I generally ride 3 hours highway each way to get to the fun roads and back. I know I'd never use all the available grip of the pilot powers in my life but I dont know how good the pilot roads would be for a supersport bike. Does anyone have experience or opinions on this? Like I said, as of now I'm leaning to the roads. It rains every single night in june in cape breton too, especially up in the mountains where I'll be spending most of my time, so that's even more reason to go for the roads I guess. Any advice would be appreciated.
 
ive see quite a few CBR600rr guys switching to the roads.

the new rears are hard and meduim compoind.


check Motomummy, they have the BT20 for $220 shipped within the states so...240ish to canada.
 
Buy the Roads (or any other good Sport-Touring tire). It'll have all the grip you need and much better life-span. I've been on almost every road in Cape Breton and been to the Highlands dozens of times and many roads will still be messy in June with rain/sand/potholes.
 
I've never had a grip issue with any sport touring tire, and I take them to the edge.
Soft SS tires on street bikes are a waste of money in my opinion, especially if your commuting or riding 2-3 hours to hit a couple corners.
Personally I'm not a huge fan of the PR3's, the 2's I liked.
I'm really loving the Dunlop Roadsmart 2's, stick like glue and getting good milage out of them so far.

Interested in knowing what you didn't like the pr3's?

For me these are the best all around street tire I've ever ridden on.

Heavy feathering and uneven wear, also found them squirrelly under heavy breaking or transitioning.
Also the wear, I found it worse then the previous gen pr2's.

Gonna try the Bridgestone T30 next myself. The Ron Haslam superbike school in the UK uses the T30's - and Ron says he gets within 6 seconds of full WSBK pace on them in a couple interviews.

Didn't like the Michelin PP2ct at all (found them to be easily upset by anything other than smooth pavement) and that's kind of made me swear off their product altogether.
