Pennsylvia Over night ride - September 21st (28th as rain day?)

FWIW
the Kinzua bridge collapse is a neat site. it was an engineering marvel when it was built. it's free and the skywalk is right next to the parking lot for those in riding boots & gear.

Haven't been to the Kinzua skywalk yet - have been to the Dam and the Hyner lookout. I was down to Johnstown last weekend and the fall colours were already starting to come out in northern PA,

If we gets to Lock Haven early (like 4:00PM), will check out this route. I rode 44 in late evening once, but want to try again in day light.

44 off 6 has gravel in most corners, nice route but take it really easy, I think they are using gravel to cover the pot holes because it is everywhere and in most corners - i went through it about 2 months ago

Gonna be bloody chilly there this weekend ....only 11 here now - going down to 0 in Coudersport overnight.

Layer up if you're going this weekend.

Chicago to DC: Cool Air to Continue Sweeping Away Heat
News - September 11, 2013; 7:38 PM ET
From the Plains to the Midwest and East, a 40- to 60-degree temperature plunge will erase late-summer heat as the week progresses.

6 to 44 was not too bad that I recall from last month but then 144 down between Kettle Creek and Renovo is sooooooo good all the rest is a blur.
144 in general between Renovo and Coudersport was fine
Can't say south of Renovo tho - could not time it right with the rain and where we were staying...glad we did not try ans we had a total hoot coming up 144 and hit the rain 10 min from the motel.
Only one young bear to contend with...:D

It is awesome, was there this past weekend. Just be careful with Dead Man's corner! a couple of KM before the left turn to renovo

We had a chat with a very nice Regional Police Officer and he mentioned that there has been many motorcycle deaths in there

That that 20 mph right hander?

Such a nice combination to do that stretch and then hop over 120 to Wykoffe Run for another 10 miles of heaven going south off 120 at the Iron Bridge.

The if you can navigate the tangle pick up 144 again and head back to Renovo for more fun going the opposite way north...like two different roads.

yes it is.

What is the tangle pick, not familiar, can you show me on the map? We just turned around and did Wykoffe run backwards.

where is this corner?

yupper tho you added in Kettle Creek Road which is fine as well - only one stretch there had some gravel...it's been improving over the last few years.

Starting from Renovo that would be exactly the fun route.

Then continue S on Wykoff and pick up 144 again.

and this as well

You on your own or a group?
I might go down Friday - try out the new Nexus card :D

There are some other roads I would not mind exploring.

On the north side of 120 opposite the iron bridge on Wykoffe run is a little hole in the wall restaurant called the willows. Good home cooking, had clam chowder and home made meat loaf. The ladies motto is "you won't leave here feeling hungry" definitely true. Worth stopping in for a bite.

The spaghetti with Meat Sauce was pretty decent as well, had enough to take a doggy bag to the hotel that night

Ummm we need to get back down there

biggest issue in the US the size of the meals.

Kid had a "salad" right at that bar at the end of 892 I think.....of course it came smothered in french fries.

I had two "snacks"....frog legs ( nicely done and I like them ) and 6 wings which I ended up snacking on at midnight.

Kid was generally disgusted. Oddly the larger Sheetz you can get decent food, yougurt and berrys, salads etc - kinds of a weird 24 hour gas stop with food and serious about their coffee...

I hope this is not going to be a food ride!!

The worse time I had was October 4, 2008 that we had 15 riders went down and lunch took forever because we squeezed into a restaurant that couldn't even cook fast enough. We ran so late that night along 120 and I couldn't see what we hit and ran over with 15 bikes!!!!:D

We had a wild time though. We took 4 taxis to a bar at downtown Williamsport and we all got free drinks (somehow, and still want to thank the rider who bought all the drinks):p. I didn't stay late enough to wait for the party to finish.

lol am not sure Wild and Williamsport can be put on the same paragraph - more applicable is toothless woman and vodka
