Paying cash for a used bike?

Well it was a bank draft. Those used to good as cash without any holds. I've sold cars before without any holds in drafts. This happened to me about 2 years ago.

He said certified cheque, they are the same as a bank draft. I think the safest is an EMT transfer. I paid for an iphone that way, showed up, checked it out, then used his wifi to send him an Email Money Transfer. He accepted, we both got confirmation and off I went.

Oh wow, well I never really used drafts im not sure,

but even cash these days are scaring me I got fake $100's once I called the guy up and he gave me real ones in the next 30 minutes though...but now I'm checking all the bills someone gives me. The dude was a stand up guy too, probably didn't know but couldn't believe it when I got home.

wow never really thought about it like that, actually sounds really smart!

Bring friend, pay cash! (or EMT)

Before handing cash over (or transferring funds) to seller:
Do check over of bike (Tell them to not warm up the bike prior to you arriving).
If you cannot test ride (Most won't allow), ask them to ride it down the street and back at least.
Ask to see sellers Drivers License, compare name with Ownership and UVIP.
Write down sellers DL number on bill of sale.

okay, will do! Do you think he will be mad if I take down his DL number?

No one should have much of an issue giving you their DL number. No one will take a personal cheque. The grocery store won'teven take them for a chocolate bar ...

I got fake $100's once

Why would you accept 100s. Also, unless you have $5g (or w.e it is) under your mattress you`ll most likely go to the bank. Ask the guy what bills he wants. You can take out $5g in $5 bills if you tell the bank in advance. So i don't see how that`s an issue.

My previous 2 cars I bought with cash. $2500 for one. $2300 for the other. All in 20's.

cash only on used sales under 10k... over 10k its cash or certified check or in person transfer at the teller.

when i bought my car i got a certified check and took the seller to the bank to deposit it, then he came with me and transferred the ownership.
call me picky but there are too many scams out there.

when i bought my cbr a couple months ago i paid cash and the seller was shocked i didnt have a check but cash is king. i had just sold my harley a few days before and that guy paid in cash.

I`m not saying cash is bad. I bought my bike with cash $11000. What i`m saying is, if he`s worried bout the guy not accepting certain bills he can just ask what he wants and go to the bank and get that. Since I assume most people dont have that money lying around. That is all.

My bank is machine and online only. So usually all I've got is $20's. Had to raise my daily limit after buying one of them required going to the machine 3 days in a row, lol.

When I bought my bike I sent the seller 3 Interac e-mail money transfers 3 days in a row and gave him the password when we met up and he signed over the ownership. It was cheaper than a certified cheque, you still have your paper trail and you don't even need to go to the bank.

Personally it's either cash, or we're going to a bank and they're giving me cash or a guarantee that the cash is in my account and it's final.

When I bought my bike I gave the seller the choice of Canadian $, American $ or bars of bullion. He chose teller transfer or certified check in canadian $. I gave him a bank money order in canadian $ and had the bike's VIN # typed in on the memo line.

I carry plastic... works great but yeah cash is king!

Walk in with cash and the seller might just go for YOUR OFFER if it's not aimed low eneough...

B.T.W op, what happened to your ninja 650r?
