Passing a group etiquette?

Out this morning for an after work ride, had just finished comin up a nice road when 6 SS bikes passed me going back down the road so I thought, hey what the hell, turned around thinking they'd be ridin it at a reasonable pace. Unfortunately they were riding thier SS bikes like a bunch of grannies and I ended up bein stuck behind them trying not to fall asleep at the handlebar. (I'm not here to judge them, everyone rides thier own ride)

So my question is, how do you politely pass a group of grannies? I mean slower riders through a nice twisty road? Is there a way without being an ******* or do you jut have to suck it up as a lost 5minutes?

weave in and out on one

NO!

Feel free to pass, but make sure you're in a position to pass the entire group.. I usually give them a wave as I pass each one.. makes it seem a little nicer IMO.. But never weave through or get in the middle of the group..

There you go. This method will earn their respect as you prove you are hardcore.

If I turned around to join them and got board, I'd just turn back around and find another place to go or pass them if the opportunity allows.

Then again, I wouldn't have turned around to try and join the group in the first place.

I doubt that would generate respect. If anything 6 riders on SS won't like being passed. I would be up on their rear and when the opportunity to pass presents itself I would pass however many I can. If I can only pass some so be it. If I did pass I would be sure to maintain the constant speed I like to ride at. I hate coming up on a slow rider. This irritation would be compounded if it were a group and this group passed to only ride slow afterwards. You should indicate the time and road travelled. Some of these riders are probably GTAM posters and should get the proper :thefinger: commendation for their riding.

i usually pass'em on a straight on a different lane, and wouldnt past them any more than 15km faster out of respect lol
and maybe give'em a slight nod as im passing, unless they are riding like jack ***** then i'd buzz past them lol

A few weeks ago i was riding east on the lakeshore and came up behind two guys on cruisers, they were maybe in their 50's/60's and driving side by side taking the entire lane and driving like turtles doing 20k. It was two lanes, but the streetcar was in the left lane followed by lots of cars as it was nearing rush hour. So i'm stuck behind these guys for several blocks with cars behind me also getting impatient and probably thinking i was with them. So i figured eff this.. and turned right down 5th or 6th street, and then went left on the next street came back up to lakeshore on the next block east, and i came out AHEAD of them! after taking that much of a detour! lol. I understand that guys like riding up and down the shore doing the poser thing trying to look cool to the girls walking by.. but at that age? lol

What's age got to do with it?

I enjoy a little speed but I've cruised with older guys I cant't safely keep up to.
I also ridi less with a younger group because they were just too hesitant.

There are all types out there driving, live and let live, life's too short to be a hater.

"All we are saying...

Cool! So next time I will buzz them between staggered formation at 200 with my front wheel at 11 O'clock waving my left hand with middle finger extended with "Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins playing in my head.
Since my right hand is on the throttle and my left hand is giving a good one finger wave I guess I will stick both my feet out as far as they good and tap each rider on the helmet as I pass by.
Thanks!

The only reason I turned around was in the hopes of learning something, I still consider myself a fairly new rider (self-taught, usually ride myslef) and was just thinking I might see just how fast this road can be taken. Unfortunately that opportunity did not preset itself this time.

I won't post where exactly I was but if they are GTAM, they all saw my bike and know who they are;)

And like I said at the start, I ain't hating I really am just wondering the best way to pass a slow group through a twisty road.
Cheers

If your reply was to my post, i wasn't being a hater or judging their riding on their age. I'm nearly 45 myself. My point was it was clear these guys were riding so slowly to 'look cool to chicks', since they slowed down even more every time they passed one, and i do think is kinda silly at that age, i don't think many girls would have thought of these guys as studs. I guess you also had to see them and how they were dressed to get my point.. lol

You got it! Bonus points if you make them spill their Timmy's on their Icon or rider club leather bibs.

They're just six other vehicles on the road. Pass them as you would any others - one at a time or in a group. Pass at whatever speed is safe for you. If that's warp speed than go for it. If it pisses them off too bad for them. I tend to pass fast to reduce exposure in the oncoming lane and the high probability that the passee will accelerate hard just as i'm passing which happens more often than not.

Slow pokes have an obligation to facilitate passing of those trying to overtake and should not be riding in a pack that prevents people from passing. If they do, they're ***** and deserve no consideration or friendliness. Although I still wave as I go by at warp 9.

Personally, from what I've seen of groups I think any group exceeding 4 should be outlawed.
