Parking your bike outside at home

I was trying to find that video, I was thinking of it myself actually to suggest.

I'm not sure exactly how secure that thing is however in the end. It certainly covers the "out of sight out of mind" scenario, but it looks a bit flimsy in the end, and since it's open at the bottom I think a 2 or 3 guys lifting on it (1 on each end and 1 on the front) would make short work of opening it up like a can of Spam.

But.....way better than a tarp or a cover, that's for sure.

Best is once they find a way in the box helmet and gear is all available ready to drive away. Key in the ignition...lol

My Wife and I lived in an apartment with no covered parking for a couple of years and kept both of our bikes out in the parking lot spring through fall. We invested in high quality covers that were a good fit to the bikes. They had one vent near the top with a rain shield to help prevent the wind using them as sails. They both also had straps and D rings to run the strap under the bike and heavy elastics all around the bottom. Bottom third of the fabric was heat resistant too so the pipes wouldn't melt the covers. We never noted any damage from keeping the bikes under them. We did put old fleece sweatshirts over the windshields while under the covers just as added protection. Then come winter we paid for storage with Clarington Cycle. Given how my garage at my house floods every spring I'm starting to consider paying for winter storage again!

My bike sits in my parking lot from spring to fall. I have a heavy cover for it. After my cover got stolen a couple of years ago I bought a 6' steel coated cable that runs through the grommets, and secures the cover to the bike. When locked they couldn't access the handlebars, the cover doesn't move in high winds. during winter bike is stored in my secured truck box storage container in a secure yard near Lindsay. It is 26' 5 ton truck box, I paid $1800 for 5 years ago. I pay $25 for the secured yard spot, It is fully fenced and has cameras 24/7 and the nice thing is no one knows what is in each box..lol

Smear the handlebars and seat with peanut oil and hope the thief has a severe peanut allergy.

haha funny. I'm allergic to peanuts

Bought a motorcycle shelter that lifts and closes. Winter storage at my mom's garage..

I think a cover only make thieves more curious to look under and see what exactly you think is such high value that you want to cover it up.
I saw drill some holes in the pavement, pours in high carbon steel loups and buy a strong chain to lock the bike down.

It could still get stolen, but at least they will have to work a little longer to get it.

P.S.

Nothing beats full theft coverage.

Insure it for more than it is worth.

most of my bikes are on my terrace, chained with oxford motorcycle security chains to the railings and to each other, all under their own covers, all of them have their steering locks on, and theres cameras on the parking lot, doors, and walk ways of my building. nvm, my dog starts barking when anyone hangs out on my terrace or near it- so atm im ok. i don't like keeping them outside, but atleast their close to me when i'm home.
