Over tightening an oil filter?

OK, so now I'm a problem for you too. What exactly have I done that is trollish, ever?

I didn't exactly called you a troll, but as they say "a guilty conscience need no accuser"

You don't bring any facts to the argument. Most of your points are just for argument sake

Thread pitch and gasket thickness. Still waiting to find out the latter.

It's an interesting subject to me so I'm talking about it, and it's related to the topic. Do you have a problem with that?

I have a problem with anyone doubting someone else without a merit and that's exactly what you have done here. Hopefully the OP can get through the garbage posts and get his filter secured correctly.

Owner's manuals and factory service manuals have been known to contain errors.
If you have a spare filter lying around, can you measure the thread pitch and gasket thickness and post them here? I bet that would reveal the craziness of 2 full turns.

Exploratory and reasonable question. Shouldn't cause to much drama. But, alas, the pitch of this thread has become a little shrill.

Actually you did exactly accuse me of trolling, you just don't have the guts to admit it. If not me, then who? Man up.

As for facts, I was the first to point out that the gasket thickness and thread pitch would indicate the good or bad sense of two full turns, to which everyone later ageed as being unique characteristics of these bikes.

It still leaves me with questions, but I suppose I should ask your permission first since like any good orthodox, you can't handle questions.

That's cool, that's just the difference between you and me. I feel free to doubt everything and everyone (including myself) at any time on principle alone. It's a method that has always served me well in the past.
