Sometimes I come across vehicle ads that state rare "only one of two in Canada" and other statements like that. Where does one go to find info like this? Is there a list out there of 'rare' vehicles?

prob from the dealer that they purchased it from.

EG. Parker Bro's used to be the only dealer for KTM....so bring in a 2 x RC8-R's in white....and you buy one....you would know that its 1 of 2 in Ontario.

Or even Ducati now...isn't parker bro's the only Ducati Dealer in ontario for Ducati?

GP bikes is both ducati and KTM, among others.

Its all advertisement lol.
Unless it is stamped on the bike somewhere straight from the manufacturer I wouldn't believe it becuase if the manufacturer knows there will only be 2 in Canada I'm sure they would be asking alot more righ off the bat.

Sometimes on small production runs, it's known how many made it to each country.

as someone else mentioned GP bikes is a KTM dealer as well. Been a KTM dealer at least as long as they have been in there new store.

I believe it depends on the ad and the seller who posted it. Words like “rare” and “limited” are very over used and buyers need to beware. Ask for proof and verify it yourself.

My wife and I have owned (and sold) several extremely rare, limited production motorcycles. Whenever writing an ad I try to include links so readers can check out the facts for themselves.

Is there a specific ad you’re interested in at the moment?

^^ this is pretty much the only time people can say that there is only x amount of these in the country. Usually such bikes will be stamped with a production number too ie: 344/500 or 002/300 etc. Any other instance is just the seller talking up their product or just not knowing that much about what they have.

I know that KTM only imported 50 of my bike into North America, and only in 2007-2008. I stumbled upon it in some documentation that escapes me now. Considering the size of the US market compared to Canada, and KTM's presence here in 2008, it's a safe bet that fewer than 10 (probably more like 5) made it to our market. That, and the simple truth that I've never seen one for sale here or on ebaymotors USA, leads me to believe that they're quite rare indeed...

That, and then there are limited production bikes like the 999R, of which every one is stamped with X of XXX numbers as proof.
