The site of that horrible crash is about 10 minutes from me, east on #7. That stretch of #7 from Lindsay to Omemee and over to the turn for Peterborough is often busy with traffic running at 90 to 95+ klicks, I`ve been on it hundreds of times. As it occurred at 6PM I wonder if the riders were heading home to Dunchurch and Barrie from a days ride. Where it happened is a long sweeping left that demands full attention, going west. I believe the 18 year old driver may have pulled onto #7 heading home to Peterborough, going east. His drivers door side impacted by one or more bikes, killing the driver and one rider, the 72 year old from Dunchurch. Every year numerous people die on that road, there`s no room for distraction or anything less than full attention. I don`t like using it at all and travel regional roads when going to my doctor in Omemee, forget #7.

What a tragedy. I would really want to know what happened here to learn from it.
Looking around on other news feeds it appears it may have been a head on crash. Other people have also pointed out the poor sight lines, busy traffic, excessive speeds and dangerous passing that occurs on that stretch of #7. In the winter it is often downright dangerous, large wide open spaces and blowing snow create packed ice surfaces and low or zero visibility in numerous spots.

I rode through there twice last week on a day trip to Ottawa. I saw pictures on the news showing the car more than halfway into the wrong lane, well over the centre line.
