I`m 68, licensed since 1973, clean record, living in Kawartha Lakes. I`m riding a 2018 Kawi Z900ABS, bike is always garaged, ride around 5000 klicks annually. Currently a full coverage policy with Wawanesa for $1193/ year. My house and car are insured elsewhere. I`m up for renewal mid June, is this the norm in the hellscape of Ontario insurance ? Obviously the days of 25 bucks a year for my then new `78 Suzuki GS1000 are long gone. Thanks for any feedback.
I was with Allstate until 5 years ago, they have cars and home, and all of a sudden it went from $600 to $1.100. Wouldn't budge, said car and home discount doesn't extend to motorcycle. I shopped around and found Aviva for $800, got it through RBC. It has not gone up for the 5 years so far. I don't have collision coverage, just liability.
I'll be 70 this June, have a 1997 ST1100 and live in Orangeville. I've been with Aviva since 2022, but only carry liability coverage because of the age of the bike. My current policy was $610 for the year. I feel that's still a little high, but we do live close to Brampton.
Up until 2021 I was with another company and suddenly the premium went from ~$700 to just over $1000 because I picked up one speeding ticket for 15 kph over in 2020, (my first ticket in over 20 years) and that company decided to screw me over. I was ******, did not renew and tried to sell the bike in 2021. Fortunately there were no takers and for 2022 I tried my current home/auto insurer and they were far more reasonable. My rates have actually decreased slightly over the last few years.
That`s the story. My home and car are bundled with Desjardins at a good rate. If I add the bike it is hundreds more in total, that wasn`t the case when Desjardins was State Farm. If I bundle my home and car, with the bike, with Wawanesa, those policies are hundreds more. WTF?.....It`s like there is no way to beat these F`n pricks. I guess that law regarding tied selling doesn`t apply here.
I'm almost ready to insure my barn find.
I've shopped it around & found the best quote coming from TD.(highest from somewhere was $1850/yr)
I'll be 70 next week.

BMW K1200RS is $890 annual premium with Desjardins. 56 years old and clean driving record. The R80 is $50 less a year, less than half the HP, 800 cc vs 1200. I don’t think I gave them expected kilometres ridden a year.

It is going to cost me $125.00 a year to insure my 1980 Moto Guzzi V50ii.
No fire, theft or collision but 2 million liability.
Limit of 3000km a year
I have had my motorcycle license since 1968
Carb bits were bathing in an ultrasonic cleaner today, and is all back together on the bench.
For the first time since '14, it might be running tomorrow.......fingers x'd.
Gotta love expert help.

Be careful with those vintage policies, some are very specific that your rides are connected to shows and meets - Sunday romps thru the countryside, commuting to work, and day rides are not covered on my $125 policy.
What pi%%ses me off is with NO-FAULT (everybody pays) insurance I am subsidizing BAD drivers with HOOLIGAN bikes who live in
HIGH CRIME neighborhoods.
If Kawasaki rebranded the ZX4RR as the "Go-Fer" or maybe the "7-11" they would sell a lot more bikes because of
lower insurance costs that their target market could afford.
Of cource they would get sued by Suzuki if they used Go-Fer
Now it will be like the Corvette and only be owned by dentists or plumbers.
