off duty cop tries to run me off the road for lane filtering....

A few random thoughts..I'm personaly surprised that we have as few accidents as we do here based on the level of attentiveness and skill of our drivers. Frankly, I think it's a miracle more people don't die.

And if you've ever been to Europe, Rome or otherwise, they treat their cars differently than ours. Most people there, dents and scratches are part of life and they don't care. People here want all new fairings if they get a scratch. Over there, dents and scratches are war scars adored with honour. So careful what you wish for.. :-)

I'll take riding a beat to hell bike in exchange for their twisty roads :D

Totally..drove the Deutsche Alpenstrasse 3 years ago when skiing in Austria and Germany..man..simply awesome. Unfortunately, the polizei are onto it and suck the fun right out of it.. :-(

They do it all over the EU. Paris, Rome, Amsterdam, Scotland. It's a part of driving. You're right (whoever said it), dents and scratches are nothing to them over there (for the most part, not talking Lambos etc). Every taxi I was in, in Paris and Rome was a Benz (except 1 brand new Camry). Their cars are just a way to get around, not prized treasures like people treat them in NA.

the same can be said for Asian countries as well and they also drive Mercedi Benz taxis. Don't think anyone washes their bike over there. Lots of scratches from people moving their bikes around to squeeze bikes into tight parking spaces and even their legs are all scratched up but they don't care as long it runs. My scooter is all scratched up tried selling it 80% below it's original value and no one wants to even have a look at it but it runs excellent and gets me to and from work everyday.

A little fender bender here and insurance goes up, traffic snarls because people don't want to move their car out of the way until the police arrives to witness a millimeter scratch. There's too much entitlement here filtering will never be safe let alone legalized. I even cut between 2 cars waiting to turn left out of a gas station to get into right lane to make my right turn and the car waiting to turn tried to cut my path by rear ending the car in front just to make his point.
