noob crashes cbr 125

were you injured at all? you seemed to get up right away... just like i did. your helmet looks like it had nothing done to it at all on the outside... just like mine. damn.

when i fell. i knew i was fine and ive had way more pain just playing sports, etc. but i thought i had broke my balls! that was the first run where the seat started to give my crotch problems. i landed, took off my gloves, took of my helmet, and put my hands down my pants to check. my life flashed before my eyes! i was ready to pick up my bike and just full throttle it off the scarborough bluffs into lake ontario!

from now on, before i hit the throttle... i will always think of my balls.... and all the yet to be born children that i haven't fathered yet.

Pretty good one to walk away from .....far more than a low side.

^ I agree with MacDoc. If what you described is what actually happened, it is far worse than what happened to me. Based on the damages, it is already far worse than mine which is why replacing the helmet is necessary. Take in to account that I didn't actually hit anything and you did (luckily I didn't cause I was damn close).

I didn't feel any pain until a couple days later - it sucked.

update with more pics of rim, the block, helmet.

from what i gather judging by the clutch lever and foot pegs trail, the bike went about 12-13 feet. i can see 2 slight gouges in the grass from what i believe are my heels about 12-13 feet away as well but there are other slight gouges as well so im not sure. i was pretty stretched out when i landed and im 6 feet. my pants dont have dirt on them but one leg does have some marks maybe from the asphalt/ground so maybe i didn't make it that far.

if you see the upper left of the block, i believe that is where the tire hit. the rim material is about 5mm id say. the shocks seem to be fine, i don't see any sort of leaks. the fork seem pretty straight to me.

I did less damage to my bike, but more damage to myself when I lowsided. I protected my baby with my shoulder :P

Not sure what I would prefer, 8 weeks not riding, bike not damaged or damaged bike but able to get right back on after you pay the $ to fix it.

Welcome to the club :D

ain't that the truth - 6 weeks later and my shoulder is still sore from a front wheel washout downhill on a forest track.
Damn peg dug in and turned a casual slide on the KLR650 into a neck wrencher...armor worked on my knee for sure - didn't see the hole in the riding pants and scratchs on the knee armor till I got home.
I still don't have fine motor control on the throttle for very extended periods....have to rest the arm.
3 weeks in Europe no riding will help a bit.

Any crash can leave some aches and pains tho my other low sides in Australia ( one other this year and two minor zero speed ones last year were like landing on a feather bed....armor worked well .....just needed to hit the washing machine to clean off the mud. This last one tho was bad luck with the peg stopping the bike hard instead of sliding.

Riding buddy came off his 650 Honda hard on single track at 60 kph and split his kidney amongst other things. Rode it out 110 km then got helicoptered to the hospital.
He still hurts a year later....but of course he will ride thousands of KM off road this year - very tough and experienced rider....FNQ off roaders are serious about distance in the bush and some of the tracks and river crossings are wild.

Hell I pulled tendon and had a tiny fracture on the anchor point below my right knee and it's still tender 40 years later from hitting a log on the trials bike - that was a painful ride out.....ever tried to jump obstacles on one foot.....very vivid pain induced memories of that.
The injuries add up - don't get me started about squash and knees :D

Any ways glad you both are out with minor scrapes.

^ wow that kidney thing is crazy.

so far i enjoy riding but im an active guy. i like sports and working out and being active more than i like riding. i have all the gear and i don't have aspirations to get a ss and take those risks. if getting injured on a motorcycle meant i lose out on all the other physical activities i like, id just quit. i could see myself being very happy on a 250 or the new 300. as much as i like speed, id rather do it in a plane/helicopter... ;)

Likely helped you out on your crash.
Bigger is not always about more speed - it's also for enjoyment . The 250 is fun but you have to stir it.
Given your profile a light weight dual sport might be way more fun.......something like a Honda CB500x almost ideal.

Hey you considered doing your sailplane licence....much fun for cheap ( in flying terms )

Is it just me or isn't that a huge gouge in the front tire??

Getting a shop to look at it, and if the forks are badly bent, or the frame even you would have been better off buying another cbr and transferring parts. I would imagine an almost direct hit like that would mess with the forks or triple tree

I think you need to work on throttle control and how to stay leaned in a turn, if you panic you will undoubtedly stand the bike up and run wide. I suggest you watch twist of the wrist II, I believe there's a link posted on this site.

ive only ridden 990km on my own. i did rti about the start of april. today is my 60th since doing the m1. ill hand in papers tomorrow.

im fairly athletic and mechanically inclined so i should get the hang of riding. but i think i got too excited after my 160km trip and overlooked making that 0.1km home. i had gotten out into the 905 countryside, tried quickshifting, tried to max the bike out (only got to 110 ugh) and i think i got too excited and throttle happy. i just want to fix this mess and get going asap.

no way, what week were you in? I did rti in april, north york?

Most accidents happen in the first 10 or 15 mins of riding, and/or right near home. My only accident was both.. within 100 meters of my condo, in my second season. Make sure you stay vigilant.. complacency is your biggest enemy

I am glad I had the incident in the end, it taught me a valuable lesson
