Night goggles/glasses

Greetings,

Wondering where you guys purchases your riding glasses or goggles from and what you recommend. I wear contacts so I'm looking for day and night glasses.

I saw a site such as biker shades dot com but i'd rather try them on and not pay shipping, prefer something local.

I've read a lot of reviews, I like the sounds of the yellow shaded glasses helping with lights and night time riding. I have a cruiser and a half helmet so would goggles be even better?

Any tips or insight would be great or store recommendations in the GTA, thanks

Also, what is a reasonable price to spend, 100 bucks? or is that way too much.

Some of the cool cats at the construction sight use run of the mill yellow wrap around safety glasses. They say it works good. That's all I got.

Exactly. Also, the auto tint is on the light side when using them as sun glasses, I find. I have a set of dark tint with polarized lenses that I use in bright sun.

I wear glasses and don't do well with contacts...and I'm on a cruiser now and enjoy wearing a half helmet usually. I found these online and bought them:

They fit over my glasses and come with both clear and tinted lenses. I've used them for a week and they work well. My eyes no longer struggle with wind. I still get bugs and debris stinging my face, but a windshield is on delivery to address that! There are plenty of other glasses/goggles on that site, depending on your needs..

I got a clear lens wrap around pair with the foam trim from the Barrie Harley dealer for $18! They have a semi mirror coating and work great. For the sun I picked up a pair of fishing shades from Bass Pro for $22... Best pair I ever got. wrap around, strong and have a polarized lens which is great for seeing in cars past the glare to see if they are paying attention to you.

Yellow is just a blue blocker and it's more of a marketing gimmick for many ranges of uses/products.

If you need something that is going to work for day and night then you can try getting transition lenses either for your visor or for your actual prescription glasses.

If you feel that the lights have become more fuzzy and the light uneveness has gotten stronger than perhaps you should see your optometrist for a new eye examination. Possibly your astigmatism may have become stronger or your axis for it may have changed.

I personally rock the cheapo safety glasses available ANYWHERE. Smoked are nice and dark for sunny days, clear ones at night. Two good things about this. They are so cheap that if ya scratch them you just buy another pair. Also, the arms are very thin and flexible due to the all plastic construction, so they slide between your noggin and the helmet easily and are very comfortable. I'm pretty sure this is no big secret...

It is an all too common misconception that yellow tinted or yellow polarized night driving glasses are beneficial for night time driving. The thought is, the yellow or amber color reduces glare and improves contrast. However, in reality, when driving at night or dusk in already limited lighting conditions, ANY tint further reduces the amount of light transmitted to the eye, and consequently, further impairs vision. The problem is compounded as the yellow tint gives the wearer the impression they are seeing better, when in fact the reverse is actually true.
