New rider from west end Toronto

Hello everyone,

I'm a new rider who has been lurking this awesome site for a few weeks.

I got my M1 in early July and registered for the course at Humber College. A week later, I purchased a Honda CBR250R and have been beating the poor thing up for the past month. The 'farting' sound of the engine along with the paint job of the Repsol edition bikes brought me back to the dealer last week. I was hoping to get a CBR600 with the Repsol paint job, but the dealer told me that only the 125 and 1000 are offered in that colour in Canada. As I was about to leave, he mentioned that I could test drive a demo CBR600RRA. As soon as I fired the bike up, I knew that I would be taking it home, lol

I ended up trading in my 250 for the 2013 CBR600RRA. Unfortunately, the RRA model only comes in the "Captain America" paint job, so I think somewhere down the road i'll be repainting it.

I get my M2 the day after labour day. Looking forward to not have to put my bike away when the sun goes down and also looking forward to riding with some of you in the future.

just curious did you take a big hit financially and insurance wise, when you moved up to the 600.

Thanks.

There's no exam to take. I took the M1 exit test during the course at Humber. I just had to wait until today to get my M2.

Surprisingly, My insurance is about the same. About $1000. When I did an online quote, it was about $2800. When I called in, they told me it was around $1000. The agent mentioned that I got a discount because I have Home, Auto and Motorcycle insurance with them. I also got a discount because I'm a student at York University. (TD Meloche Monnex Insurance)

Trading in the 250 for the 600, I lost about $1000. I brought it back with 700km on it, everything else about the 250 was still in mint condition though.
