New Bike Purchase

Is this with the R model as well.... Also, talked to sales rep and he says alarm system 270.00$ optional.... any thoughts on that one, is yours equipped with one?
I have the RR not the R. Yes it has the factory alarm and it works quite well. If someone sits on the bike it goes off, if the bike is moved, it goes off ... the siren could be a bit louder though.

also, re reading your post it seems you're interested in the 1000r and here I am talking about the 1000rr. Somewhere along the post, I thought it was about the 1000rr (maybe the guy talking about the weird suspension issue from the 1000rr forum). Anyways, can't advise on the R other than the fact that I want one. :)
lol

It's noticeable, but I usually ride half tuck or just under the slipstream so it's not that bad. It was the first thing I noticed when I pulled on the 401 out of Endras. Coming from an R1 I felt naked against the wind, but just like anything else, you'll get used to it and I barely notice it now. From the sound of riding you want to do, I'd say look at your choices for upright as it may suit your needs, the choices you gave and the bikes the other guys put up are nice options. I've came up with SS and I'm not ready to give up on it just yet. I've been eyeing the ZX14 or even a GS for a long distance touring, but I think I'll always have an SS in my stable.

The bike is great, the mechanics and the power delivery is awesome...it is a riders bike in the sense it will let you do what you want and give you the assurance that you need and you can go the distance. The heat is an issue as well as the small screen. But, small price to pay (or just wrap the metal and get a longer screen) and you can do it all.
without looking, is there optional wind screens available for this bike?.....OEM or otherwise

Someone miss read something somewhere and post it in a forum and now gets repeated without people really knowing what they are talking about, it happens with the FZ09 all the time.
Weird. I have a 2012 S1000RR and have had none of those issues. Now, can you please explain the electronic suspension being a money pit? Nothing in the link you posted supports that. I am a member of that forum and all the guys on the HP4's and 15+ S1000RR's have nothing but positive things to say about the DDC.

If wind protection is a big concern, why not check out the S1000XR. Basically the same bike under the skin with a bit more upright seating position and more wind protection.

why not check out the S1000XR

because it and all the sporty "ADV" things look like ***

Actually, talked to the rep from Japan at the last bike show. He said they are taking dead aim at the BMW S1000R with the MT10. I would imagine that means price as well.

i made the same mistake...at first for some reason i thought he was looking at some supersports and streetfighters which is why i brought up the cbr1000rr.

yes the s1000r, MT10 are competitors , i would also look at the Z1000 though. i sat on 1 a few weeks ago and likes it. will try to get 1 out on demo day.

Need the upright riding position dude..... also anything RR is a insurance nightmare
i know you are looking at 1000's but on my cbr600rr i pay $650 a year full coverage.
but ya, i mistook some of the bikes on your list for a SS class...read it wrong my bad.

I did.... about 3 grand more...I wouldn't mind but the S1000R IMO , has better lines.
Also noticed some decent after-market screens available .

How fast do you ride? Wind protection is a non issue under 150km/h on these bikes.
